CLOSED: Weigela

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Hi everyone,
Last year someone asked me to root some of my mother's weigela for them. I have checked everywhere trying to find "WHO" I promised this to. If anyone remembers this, please let me know, as I have a nice size seedling that is ready for the mail. Here is a picture of the bushes in bloom...

Just send her my way. I had to leave mine when I moved. She is telling you she wants to come to my house.

Janet
I have a huge one over 12 foot tall and about 6 foot wide at the top I was wondering how you rooted yours I have thought about trying it to put some others in and around the yard.
Thanks
Kim

Actually I usually just take a branch and cut it off, stick it into the ground about six inches or so...I try to get a branch with a fork in it and plant it down to the "V" if that makes any sense. The one I have now just sprang up in front of the mother plant. But all of mine came from my Mama's bush, and I just stuck the sticks in and they sprang up from that...they are well ove 12 feet high and bloom beautifully. Hope that helps...someone else may know another way to root them....they are very easy though.

Thank you Janet
You just can't help but love these I am hoping to get a dark colored one as well all the birds love it as do the hummers. I'll give it a try.

Makshi,
Send me your addy and she is all yours...noone else has claimed her....LOL...Kim, there are several vendors that sell some of the red ones that are just beautiful. I was looking at some of them late last night. They are just a very hardy shrub and even though mine only blooms in spring/early summer....they are absolutely beautiful and yes the hummer and birds just love them!
