I need help. I thought there was a weird curl to my alsobia leaves but it was blooming okay so I figured it was just that kitchen window and I moved it. Today, I looked more closely under my magnifier light and there were little white bugs. #%&*%#!!!! I immediately moved it into isolation. None of my other plants are showing any signs...so far.
So now what????
It's aphid season outside and I've been really good about washing my hands when I come in the house...but I must have missed it or brought them in on my clothes. Poop. I've even been going without any cut flowers in the house until my aphid problem has passed outside (meaning the lady bugs come and get them.).
EEKKKK Aphids on my Alsobia Cygnet!!!
Oh wow sorry. Do you have windows open ? They can come in screens. Clothes , pets and more.
They rarely bother Africa violets. . Is there a lot ?
What bug stuff do you have you can spray ?
If the plant has a lot treat plant, all plants in home just in case I would say ? Does Neem oil help ?
If the plant if bad spray and one grow it outside , or throw it away and I will send you a new one.
Morning!
Sorry to hear about that! I just used Schultz Insecticidal Spray when I had aphids and it took care of them no problem.
It is a yellow bottle with red writing on it here in Canada.
I agree with Allison, they can come in anywhere and anyhow!
Good luck hon!
Joanne
Well, we have four dogs and four cats all going in and out~lol~ (We used to live in the country where it wasn't unusual to have this many. We moved into the city and it sure seems like a lot now!!)
I'm going to see what I can do with the alsobia. And get some neem oil as soon as I can afford it. I'll only throw the plant away as a last resort...she has two beautiful blooms on her right now!! I am treating my outside plants with an alcohol/water spray and also with just rinsing. That will be my first try.
I"m relieved to hear that they hardly ever bother AVs. But everyone will be undergoing inspection today!!

Go here and read what Optimara says about them and how to treat. Also Isolate infected plants.'

Thanks, Allison ;-)
When I had aphids on my geraniums I filled a spray bottle with warm water and put a tea spoon of washing up liquid in it then sprayed pn my plants.
Aphids are generally not too hard to discourage. Even a spray of water will take them off the plant... do this repeatedly if needed (sometimes you miss a few or more hatch out). Soap as Spider suggested also works well. I'm assuming your little bugs really are aphids... if they are whiteflies, you might need stronger measures than soapy water.
Yes Anna this will be good ~ spray bottle with warm water and put a tea spoon of washing up liquid ! AND even add some alcohol to the mixture above !
That sounds perfect...warm water with liquid soap and some alcohol! Poor buggers will never know what him them :))
Thanks, guys. I knew you would tell me how to fix it!
Sounds good to me ! Spray soil good too. Di they have different stages and lay eggs ?
Yeah you may have to spray more than once, like maybe now and then in a week - not sure what the period of time is for each stage of their miserable little lives!
Wishing you luck jesse! That should spray should fix them
