HAVE: Free Plant Poaching Expedition!!!

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Due to recent kidney surgery, I cannot dig plants currently but I have lots of plants that need to be moved out of my gardens. If you live close enough and would like to take a "plant poaching expedition" thru my gardens, these are some of the plants you could take home with you:

Silver King artemesia
Blackberry vines
Orange Trumpet vines
Milky Way Morning Glories
Yellow Four Oclocks
Spearmint
Purple Leaf Perilla
Vinca Major Variegated
Vinca Major green
Yucca - small
Woodland violets - white with a lavender face
Monkey grass - Liriope - green
Moonflower datura - fragrant, but very toxic if ingested by human or animal
Lilac Datura (toxic also)
Common Orange daylilies
Zinnias
Cuttings of roses
Cuttings of purple smoke bush
Whatever else we run across that I could part with

These are all free for the taking. But if you insist on a trade, I can always use more nursery pots, soil, trowels (because I lose mine all the time!), coffee grounds, manure, chemicals, and anything else I can use in the garden. I really don't need more plants at this time. It will be another 3 weeks before I can begin digging again.

You will have to dig these yourself. I'm stingy with my dirt so you'll have to take the plants bareroot. I've spent years amending my red clay and I like to hang onto my new soil. You'll need to bring soil, pots, boxes, bags or whatever to transport your plants in and perhaps labels so you can label the plants. If you bring a notepad, I can give you info on each plant.

If you're interested, I live in Jonesboro, Arkansas, about an hour from Memphis. So if you're in the neighborhood, holler at me and maybe I can help you fill your gardens. These plants will soon be ripped out or poisoned so I can add in more daylilies.

Nancy,
I sure wish I lived close to you. Waht kind of nursery pots are you looking for? I have oodles of the small ones . I think they are 4'' pots.

Hey Winnie,

I can use all sizes, particularly perennial and one-gallon pots. How far away are you? I don't think I've ever been to Celina.

Nancy,
I showed a pot to hubby and he said it was a 2" pot. They are seedling pots. My daughter got them from a nursery for free last year for my greenhouse. I have more than I will ever use. You are welcome to some if you want. You will have to clean them up a little. I just rinse them with clorox water.
I live right on the KY/TN line on Dale Hollow Lake. Nashville is about 150 miles away. I am susposed to go there every 2 months for a check-up but the drive is too long and I go when I get really bad and have no other choice.

Hey Winnie, my sis lives near Union City TN, near the KY/TN line. Paduccah isn't too far down the road. How close are you to that? I might have to stop in and visit with you.

I don't really use 2" pots. I usually mostly the 6" perennial pots and the one gallons. Thanks for the offer though. If you participate in the co-ops and get some of the plugs different places sell, the two inch pots would be great for potting them temporarily.

From looking at the map your sister lives at one end of the state and I live at the other.LOL

NancyAnn, my extension office keeps a little shed, where they have a stack of every size of black pot imaginable. they are meant for extension projects, but usually have more than they need. Perhaps your local office has something like that and you can help yourself to a few? that's what I do.

Also, I have a nursery that gives me a few when I ask (I am a reg. customer) and another one sells them to me for 25 cents. Another idea to consider.

wished I lived close to you to raid your roses.

Gracious, Nancy!! You sure know how to get people to move closer to you!! I think I'll put my house up for sale tomorrow! You'll be seeing a LOT of me!! lol

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Vossner, I do get my pots from a local landscaper. I have quite a few stacks. I just thought if someone was coming for a trade, they could bring whatever extras they have lying around. All my friends know to save them for me and people drop by often to drop off a few. I do have a few 100, but if people are just going to throw them away, I volunteer to "rescue" them.

Cheryl, you could have taken a trip here instead of Utah. I coulda sent you home with a trunkful of stuff! But since you've packed up and decided to move, there is a house right across from that is for sale. Maybe we could be neighbors. But now, I don't wanna catch you doing nightly raids on my gardens, ya hear? LOL

Emporia, KS(Zone 5b)

You'd never know who did it! Well, except for the dirt trail leading across the street and all and the fact that I suddenly have a bunch of plants you once had. But other than that, you'd have no proof!! lol

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Ummmm, gee, Cheryl, it looks like that house sold overnight! Well rats, I guess you won't be my new raider....I mean Neighbor...afterall. LOL

Emporia, KS(Zone 5b)

lol Guess who bought it!!!!!

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Ummm, ummm....well, um, welcome to the neighborhood!

(Barbed wire and electric fence going up around the property today!)

I wish I lived closer too. I have way too many pots, plenty of dirt, and am salivating over your plant list....
