Hi - I'm new here...and I need help...

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

I am "renovating" my pond this year. I built my first pond last spring - 6x9 pond with 4 foot high waterfall. I really wanted a longer stream though - and, of course that meant I had to expand the pond too :o) I've been working on it just about EVERY spare moment for 3 solid months and I'm still not done. This is my problem - IT WON'T STOP RAINING!!!! Anyone else have this problem? How can I fix it? I'm almost at the point of despair. I've been working so hard and long and I really want to hear the water flow (and I don't mean the rain)! Of course I've been working in the rain too (I'm obsessed), but some things just can't be done in a monsoon.

Anyway, Just thought I'd drop in and say "hi". I've been lurking for a couple months now.

You will have lots of sympathizers here in the PNW. LOL I hope you have good rain gear!

Hey Songsofjoy welcome to the moldy world of working on ponds in the wet and damp! I have a reconstruction project on hold (due to chipmunk damage, suspected but not confirmed). The rain wont quit here either. Yesterday was an 1-1/2" an hour for a short time but sheesh stop already. I don't want a drought, just 4 or 5 days please! Slipping around in the mud I would wind up head first in the pond for sure.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

And I was out for an hour tonight watering the gardens around the pond since we can't seem to get any regular water - send some over this way, please - Dax

Lol, and since we've had HWY's closed here for the past month due to the fires, I'm afraid me and my drought parched gardening buddies just can't relate....
I've always felt they should build an "Alaskan pipeline" sort of nationwide pipe-path, to shift the water from one area of the country to another...
but no one listens to me....blah....
:)

Oh, you have my sympathy!! I understand the 'driven' part of working on a pond and wanting to be finished. And I understand the 'rain' part, too. LIke Katy says, hope you have good rain gear!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

We have never had a May and June with so much rain and cold. Heat on in June in Southern CT!!
Welcome and good luck songsofjoy.

I like that Alaskan pipeline idea, Mary.

Potsdam, NY(Zone 4a)

Here, too! 40 degrees when I got up this morning. windy with rain. up to a rollicking high of 45, wind higher! Now getting dark, and wind worse! back to 40 degrees, and most of my garden is in! Worries me. Heat is on here, too, Dave! terrible. and more of the same in the forecast, except maybe a bit less chilly. BAM

Ocoee (W. Orlando), FL(Zone 9b)

Fireant....Maybe (fingers crossed) we will get a touch of the tropical storm coming up through Cuba....I NEED some water!
Bambam....I cant believe in June you are still having those temps....What have you planted so far?

(Zone 9a)

It's hard to imagine 40 degrees even in December. As long as that thing remains a TS, okay. We do need the rain, but I would prefer to have rain spread out daily instead of packed into a giant storm.

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Send some of that rain this way!!!! We have had rain once in about two months. Everything is cooking, I am spending a fortune on watering. Actually,I am secretly begging the rain gods to send that tropical storm this way.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

In the Northeast, we are now all water gardeners, at least bog gardeners!

Sunshine all day and temps in the 70s today! First time in a long time. I have been planting all spring without need to water in the new plants.

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

The skies are blue and the sun is shining! Finally!!! That being said, all your posts do help put a little perspective on the subject! I hope you all get just what you need - whether it be sun or rain! Happy gardening to everyone!!

(Zone 9a)

We finally have rain! The rain we are supposed to have--it comes and goes. It pours down, then the sun comes out, and then pours again. I love it. The plants look good. I am also getting dozens of frogs, which I thought had disappeared completely. I am hoping their tadpoles will help the algae problem my pond is having.

It's good that the rain has finally abated for you. I hope your pond goes well. Post some pictures of it.
