Wanted: Dietes Bicolor/African Iris 'LEMON DROP', Have EE's

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

Hi, I'm looking for TRUE LEMON DROP African Iris plants, these have creamy white petals with lemon yellow dots in the center of 3 of the petals. Not to be confused with 'orange drop',which have a brighter orange colored dot or d. iridoides which have yellow and purple in the centers or the d. bicolor which has yellow petals.

I have for trade Black runner elephant ears, Giant Green (c. esculenta) ee's, walking iris', Night Blooming Cirrus (Epiphyllum Oxypetalum) cuttings . . . . and other tropicals and lots of seeds. I even have CORKSCREW VINE seeds. Also willing to buy plants if you don't want to trade.

Anyone have these? So far, I have only been able to find them in one nursery in Boynton Beach, FL and they don't ship and that's a several hour long drive for me. Anyone in central Florida seen these in any garden centers or nurseries?

thanks for looking and for any info or trades!

Onalee

PS: I know there is someone on Ebay selling these, but they aren't really lemon drops, they are orange drops - I've seen them in person and they are orange centers, not yellow, despite how they look in the photo.

Onalee can you post a pic. I have them in huge clumps at the old place and plan to move them here when ever I can get DH to go dig them. Not sure if they are Lemon drop or Orange drop. Will see if i can find pics. I have 2 kinds of the African iris. Think the other has purple in it.

Hi Donna - so far, I haven't been able to find a pic of them - only the orange drop. I have a feeling the problem I'm going to have is it will be hard to tell if it is orange drop or lemon drop unless you can see the two side by side! From my research, the lemon drop has lemon yellow spots where orange drop has a bright orange. I found one site that was selling orange drop but noted that they had originally marketed it as lemon drop, thinking that is what they had. So I don't think this is going to be easy. the only picture I can find when I google it is on this site:

http://www.hcp4.net/mercer/inbloom/images/july2003/dietesBicolorLD.lg.jpg

and that one sure looks orange to me!

What I may have to do is do some trades and wait for the different ones to bloom to see if I can sort them out then. I definatley don't need the ones with purple, I do have those.

If you think you can get the orange/lemon (as opposed to the one with purple), I'm sure we can do a trade (or I can pay for them, whatever you'd rather - D-Mail me).

Thanks much!

that is not what I have in the pic. Mine has yellowish petals I think with a brown spot. Will try to find pics tomorrow. Don't want to wake DH up now. Will check my web shots albums now to see if pic is there
