Where is the bets place to buy hoya hoops

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Or trellis? where to you guys get yours? do you use bamboo hoops or something else?
I got some cool pots from Bob as some of you have seen with the attached trellis but I need some that fit in other size pots.

Hi Chris. I use bamboo hoops, bamboo poles that I cut to fit, and even wooden chopsticks for the littler vines. Hoops and poles nearly every garden center will carry. Chopsticks...well I get mine at carry-out Chinese food places....lol... There's a spiral trellis that Lee Valley carries that's very good for hoyas too. For the bigger plants, upsidedown tomato cages work. I use bamboo hoops and 14 guage wire hoops for the smaller ones. I have seen nurseries here make hoops, any size you want from 14 guage plastic coated wire...but they are expensive.

I never thought of the tomato cages..great idea though none of mine are large enough for that yet :) But I will definitely keep it in mind!

Our nursery centers are messed up LOL..they don't really carry hoyas and hoops seem out of the question but I never thought to make my own out of wire and such.
I may end up hitting a craft store instead of a nursery!

and thanks for the link Christine..I am going to have to go check that out now :)

I get my bamboo hoops at HD, they come 3 in a package. They need to be cut down, but work great. Marcy has heres on a really cool swirly thing.. Maybe she will post it. Remember not to overpot your hoya to fit one of those big trellis. They like to be kept root bound. Christina has cool hoops but I have never seen them here in the States. My husband also makes me some out of plastic coated wire, it works really good.

For my smaller ones I'm using a wire hanger that is "unbent" and then bent back into the shape..I make it a little bigger so when I put it down in the dirt, the ends want to "open" and then go tight against the side of the pot ..I hope that makes sense..

It's all I can afford right now LOL

LOL..our local places dont' carry them but you guys have given me some good ideas about making them myself :)

I never knew that they reached out like they do. I swear one of mine is following me around trying to latch on to my neck.
