I just subscribed to Dave's Garden and I am very excited about wandering around all the forums and postings DG has.
My husband and I live on 25 acres in Michigan, have 3 barn cats, and 8 chickens - which I got for Mothers Day, one vegetable garden.
We have 2 married daughters and 6 grandchildren, which are the most beautiful children you have ever seen! (Can you tell I'm their grandmother??)
I was born in Kentucky but raised in Michigan. I LOVE the South and hate living in Michigan, but I'm not leaving unless the grandbabies come with me... So, you can see my problem. ;)
My best to all of you! I'm looking forward to talking to you all!

Hi welcome, i know the moving and the grandbabys.have great day time on Daves.. .
Hey Glenda!
Welcome to DG! I'm pretty new here myself but I am having a lot of fun and making friends and trading seeds. There is so much to do here!
Anyway, come join us on the Michigan forum. We'll try to make michigan a little nicer of a place to live for you :-)
Sunny
Well thanks, Hope43 & Sunny! I appreciate your warm welcome!
Sunny, I will certainly check out the Michigan forum. I'm glad the Michigan forum is available because it will address certain climate conditions we face here in Michigan. I'm a licensed nurseryman and I know that some of the wholesale plant material that I buy in the early spring often comes from Washington state, etc. and they are all a month or so (ahead) of us here in MI, so I have to take special care to make sure the plant material doesn't get damaged from frost, late winter storms, etc.
Don't get me wrong about living here in Michigan - I've lived here
for 48 years now. My complaints are the "usual ones"... Too long of
winters, gray skies from November 1st to the middle of February, flat
land, etc. Michigan is beautiful in the summer - but yucky in the
winter, etc. For me, there are no huge Southern Magnolia trees, no
green lush mountains with little streams and creeks running down
them, Southern cooking, sweet people with wonderful accents :), the
smell of warm moist air, "jar-flies" singing in the trees, (real)
June bugs, and the feeling that I'm finally "home".
All my family is in the South and that's where my "roots" are. I
just have a love for the South that makes me "homesick"; it's really
not Michigan's fault. :) ....My family is use to my whining!! :)
I may whine, but I NOT leaving my grandbabies. I'm sure y'all understand. :)
enjoy yourself at daves. its a great place.
