This baby took forever to groew but at last blooms ! Anyone else have blooms yet from the ones I sent out !

Well last one I saw on Ebay sold for over $30.00. I have two extra suckers babies can save you one !
I have not seen David selling for a long time ?? I know he had mites and got rid of them and was selling again. Maybe he had another problem or got busy with his faily and full time job ?? He sure hybridized a lot of nice plants several I grew ! Only one I kept.

I just did an advanced search on Ebay for completed auctions and was so surprised to see a plant of Vespa Verde (Senk) sold for only $3.00 (auction ended Dec.7-06) and another leaf auction for $1.50
It is such a sweet little violet and I'm sure you are glad you kept it to enjoy.
WOW when David first starting selling them they were going sky high even to $$100.00 !
When I bought my first two leaves I paid almost $ 20.00 . Being a Wasp, variegated and green and white bloomer all three things I enjoy in an AV I had to have it ! Not to mention it is the only wasp plant with green in it's flower !
Well those two leaves gave me 7 really nice plants ! I meant to keep one but all sold for about $30.00 each ! I kept a couple leaves that time but they did not make it :((
Last year I was able to buy two more leaves for around $8.00 ! I only got 4 plants this time . I gave three away kept one ! When I gave them away athis plant had just sold for almost $40.00 !!! just this past summer. I looked back in No Jan's picture her's plant looks great larger and more fuller than mine. But when her wood burning stove went out she lost a lot of plants not sure if she lost this one ?? But I also have two other plants from the suckers off of this plant !
I grew a few fruit flys ! That plant was fun ! The leaves a couple years ago were costly but the plants sold high also $$$.
I have grown about all of his plants some he sent me free. But this is the only one I have left !
David told me he was going to register this plant ~,Vespa Verde (D. )~but most likly he said he was going to change the name as his frined was using ( Tina Moreno) was using the Vespa name.
I bought all her leaves too. She said she was going to register them ??? But this has not happened.
Her leaves way way high. One set went for $40.00 . I lost mant auctions but did buy all five sets. They grew well into good size nice blooming plants . I got many plants and gave them all away.

If I was ever to buy another African violet plant after growing at least a thousand different varieites from leaf ! It would be a flowering noid or a flowering Optimara . :))

Oh Jan super ! I know you love Wasp ! I've always been a Wasp lover too ! I was so excited when this plant came out as I love blooms with green too !

I know what you mean VT...when new and novel violets first come out, they always sell high...the good old marketplace and the law of suppy and demand at work. I agree with you in that I wish many of the hybridizers would register their plants as well.

Hey when the it came out being the first green and white wasp plant people went nuts ! Just like when the first Pink flowering first double pink , and first girl foliage , first Chimeria :)) Oh the green blooming Streptocarpus plant came out I tried to win that a few times but it always went to high .
All the first AV's were blue shades Blue Boy being the first.

In the fifty's Lyon's came out with the first double pink it brought lots of money ! I forget which double pink it was anyone know ?? :)) There were three in one year.
If my memory does not fail me the first double pink came out from Lyon's in 1953 three plants were named by Lyon. I think it was Double pink Cheer but the name might be wrong but I do recall the first Doube pink was from Lyon !
