Does anyone know what the average weight of a tulip bulb would be? I am doing a coop for tulip bulbs from Brent and Becky's, and in order to figure shipping from me to the participants on the smaller orders, it would be good to have some idea of what they might weigh. The large orders will be shipped flat rate, but that's not feasible for the small orders. I know they can all be different, but a ballpark figure would be great.
Average weight of a tulip bulb?
I have no idea... it's going to depend on whether it's a large tulip or a small species tulip. Maybe B&B could tell you - they should know the approximate shipping weight of a quantity of tulip bulbs (25, 50, 100) and you could divide that total. I briefly considered suggesting you weigh a "tulip-bulb-sized" potato or onion but I don't think that would be accurate because of different moisture content.
I've thought of the same things Tom. I've even considered digging up one of mine, just to get some idea. LOL
I've asked B&B to weigh a few of their bulbs, just to give us a starting place. They charge their shipping on a percentage of the total order, so that doesn't help me figure out how to have everyone pay for shipping orders from me to them. *sigh*
