Passiflora rooting??

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

O.K. a very kind person sent me some passiflora that they dug up.They are the regular yard type maypops. Most of it I'm happy to say has new growth on it so I think they are going to make it. Some of the shoots were long so I cut them and tried to root cuttings NO WAY !!! They all died.I tried the water method. What did I do wrong???? CC

Thanks kht ,I put them in a tall glass of water, changed the water every 4 days ,and had them in the kitchen. Was hopeful 'cause the one looked like it had new growth, and then boom ,they all looked dead.I'm starting to get a complex

Did anyone ever try willow water for starting cuttings? Take some green willow shoots and soak them for 3 or 4 days then use the water to start your other cuttings (throw the willow shoots away unless you want willow trees all over the place). I have good success with this method.

I'll send it out monday,I wonder with the willow,do you pound the ends or just stick them in the water to soak??

you mean to root them? I've heard people say that when they use them for stakes that they root. must be real easy!

Hi Folks.
Maypops is sometimes very hard to root because the stems get hollow quickly. The best way to take cuttings for this particular passion flower is to just pull a young shoot out of the ground (there is a knack to this) & it should come up with a few inches of root attached. It can then be placed straight in a pot with a plastic bag over it & off it will go.
