Daughter's Pond

Harford County, MD(Zone 6b)

I didn't realize there was a water garden forum and had posted some pictures on the curb appeal aka landscaping site, but this is my DD's pond by her deck. She designed the layout and had a contractor do the digging , put the liner in and place the stones. All the rest she landscaped.
It's so relaxing to stand at the deck railing and just look over into the stream and pond.

ginlyn, love that pond! It really looks great, very subtle but very beautiful. I'm about to put my first one in (I've done tanks for years but finally have my very own backyard, and the people I bought it from left a pond liner!) and this is inspiration for me.

Bravo. Beautiful. i see her pond is netted like mine.

As I have cats, I think the net is essential. Do you cut it for the plants, or put the plants on top and let the roots grow through it?

brigidlily, she just anchored the net at the deck side and cut slits in the other side and looped it over the solar lights. That way she can lift it up to add any plants or fish. She resorted to a net because last year something got her 100.00 fish. She thinks it was blue heron.

Ouch. The herons are so beautiful, and as it says in "Archie and Mehitabel", a bird's gotta eat, said the robin to the worm. But to get a pricey koi like that, when it would have gotten just as full with a WalMart one, to say nothing of the heartache. You can really get attached to a koi. I'll definitely get a net before I put Jimmy and Rita in the pond.
