some of you may not have seen this before...or "saved" it for reference...Paula made this ring of flowers a couple of years ago and is great for ID...our thanks to Paula again
Paula's Ring of Plumie Flowers
Wow these are great...but my wish list keeps growing looking at them!!! What are the little things that the blooms are sitting in??
Hi Kim! I know what you mean about the wish list. Those are called plumie rings. They are made from different materials and hold water so that the small blooms can sit in them without getting soggy. Any shallow vase or container will work though. I used a bottle cap in my picture. Some people just float the blooms in water.
Thanks..I swear that I am not stalking you today!!! I have never seen those rings before! My plumerias actually have to bloom in order for me to use one though, LOL. We might get lucky this year..our Celadine looks like it might bloom but then again that could be wishful thinking, LOL!!!
Kim, I bet your Celadine will bloom for you. It is one of the most reliable bloomers. Just be sure to give it lots of food (fertilizer) weekly or whenever you can from spring to fall. Regular MiracleGro fertilizer is fine, or you could start out with a Bloombooster/Bloombuilder formula, which has a high middle number to help encourage flowers.
Great pics....*sniffle* none of Duke though. That Kimo...really like that color!!! Is that an easier or more difficult one, Clare? I'll look up the scent on your sticky. :)
chantell...duke is a nice dark red and pretty....i have a Bali Hai Red that is its twin..
That's what I thought - was wondering why it's leaves were coming out purple at first...LOL
We have been giving all three of our plumies some bloom booster. The Celadine looks like it might have an inflo on it..we are just crossing our fingers that it actually is one..it's small at the moment! I know that I will be super excited whenever we do get blooms!!!
These are great! I see quite a few I would love to have. I bet the aroma from these rings is a wonderful thing!
Schnoikies!!
These are terrific!!
Glad you like them:-)
Chantell, were you asking about Kimo? I'm not sure of the scent, but I know it is a tricky one to root. It tends to rot easily so I would get one that is either rooted or grafted if you are going to buy one.
That Gloria Schmit is a looker to eh? Yes, Clare - there's that beautiful Kimo I saw somewhere...I just love those sherbert colors!! Very pretty!! I didn't bid on the 2 yr old seedling..went up further then I wanted esp. not knowing what I'd get. Will probably just order a grafted one!!! I have what is ending up being an unknown white with one bloom opening up. Can they be id'd without the leaves?
Sure, we can I.D. it as a white hybrid:-) See the FAQ's information about identification!
Didn't even know that was included in the sticky...will read up on it!!
They are so beautiful....love those orange and pinks swirled ones...so sad my rainbow bit the dust. Not meant to have one, I guess *sad face*
So sorry, Chantell! Don't give up! Rainbows can be hard to root sometimes. Try ordering a grafted one from Florida Colors instead. Everyone is meant to have a rainbow!
Clare,
If you remember this was my 2nd one...this one was to have been rooted already. Let's just say it was semi-rooted. Oh well...if the other 5 do well...then I'm not doing too bad...I think. LOL
