Zone 6 Figs

My mother is a fig addict and has a perfect place for a tree. She is also in zone 6b, but has a tall brick wall with a southern exposure where I am sure a fig would be very happy.

Can anyone make recommedations on a variety that would do well?

These all have gotten good reviews from friends in colder areas of z6 than me.

I finally moved all of mine to pots and stick them under the house for the winter.


LSU Purple is purported to bear a decent crop on new wood after freezing to the ground, but mine never has.

Interesting about the pots. How does that work out? Do you have them on rollers or are they small enough to be easily moveable?

Right now they're in 3 or 5 gallon pots, and light enough for me to pick them up, but most need to go up to a 10-gallon container this year - but don't know if I'll get that accomplished or not.
