Hubby and I are going to California to visit dear sweet Norma for a couple of days. She's going to take me to some of her favorite nurseries, so hopefully I will return home with some hoyas I don't have. It'll be a week or two before we leave, but I"m excited already. Oh Tami and Binky I'll need your pictures to show our neighborhood security and my part time dog. My sister is staying here to take care of the plants, so ladies I wouldn't plan on any hoya raids:-)

Well now I think I take offense to that... Sounds like you need to watch out for Betsy and Karen.. To think that poor Binky and I would even think about stepping foot in your greenhouse while your gone is just, well lets just say I am hurt down deep..... I think your pretty safe on this trip Awanda, it would have to be a cold day in Mesa in June for me to even venture your way in 115 temps....

Betsy & Karen would you two cuties, please send me your pictures too? Uh I'm collectiong pictures of online plant buddies, yeah that's what I'm doing. Now that I think about it Binky's been telling me she's going out of town, but I think she's trying to throw me off. Tami you must have taken what I said the wrong way, I wanted your pictures, so the security would be sure to let you in our development and my part time dog wouldn't bite you...yeah that's what I wanted them for:-).

I know for a fact she is leaving again in July, so if ya can't make this trip, try to keep the schedule open for July... It may be a little tiny bit warm, but she has fresh oranges too, so we can squeeze us a little refreshment....
Oh geeze I have no one to blame but myself:-). Why am I not surprised at any of the posts? I showed my hubby Betsy, Karen and Tami's picture and he said "Like I've always said YOU plant people are strange" and after seeing those pictures, I had no argument!! The pictures are hilarious though:-).

What Awanda says is true. I need to be closer to finish my Jedi training. Don't worry, I have hooked a Minneapolis friend into hoya hunting at the Home Depots. We went out one day about 5 weeks ago, I scored a EA basket of multiflora, curtsii(number six??), ds-70(can you ever have too many of those?), incurvula/brievlata(not sure which one it is), and a dischida nummularoides(it croaked). I will miss being able to hit 7 Home Depots in one day. Minneapolis, land of the stripmall, shopping mall, suberb central. If you got the time, we got the shopping, lol.

Your going to miss your Home Depots there period. I have never found a single hoya at the HDs around here. Or Lowes or any of the others. The only EA plants I have ever found is at a Stater Bros. grocery & I think they stopped getting them as I haven't seen any this year.
Better bring em with you. Ha.

Ummm...for those of us that were planning on "visiting" Awanda's hoyas while she was gone, I have some really bad news....I bought a (BEAUTIFUL) h. vitellina from her and it arrived today (picture below) BUT.... in the package was a picture of a "hoya hit man" complete with a gun in his hand!!!! Scares me away - I guess the HJM takes protecting her hoyas seriously!!! (Awanda, you had BOTH my husband and I ROFL with that picture!!) Karen
Karen how absoutely hilarious!! That little hoya hit man, is my "Hoya Jedi" and yes he is the protector of my hoyas. Pictured next to him is his sidekick:-),

Ladies, it is time to put on your bad-girl shoes. I think if a dog and a white guy are the only things keeping us from her plants, I say "No Problem"! We'll just drive up, somebody bust loose with a steak and a six-pack and watch the dog and the white guy get busy fighting each other for the steak. We can just waltz right past with our semi and load 'em up.
