Okay, I am not good at sexing chicks, but how can you tell it's a she?

Oops, or were you kidding? Slow today...

Well...... its right at 2 months old and there are no signs its a roo! No waddles or head piece( lol) and no Crowing! If its a Roo,it will definitely be a "Mama's Boy"!!!!!!
No seriously , She has feathered out now and has all the female Charicteristics(sp.), no showy feathering with little color, She has now grown longside feathers which appear a grey white, like her Daddy. And has the Characteristic head and upper body feathers of her True mama a tiny little BB Red!
She s becoming a pickle to photo, Ill try to get a pic later! She has become an escape artist too. She is so small that she can squeeze through the fencing, and goes straight for the garden. I usually catch her though before she does any damage! Im more afraid of a Hawk or some other 'Critter ' spotting her!

Eufala that is really one of the cutest pictures I have ever seen. You should publish it. Too funny. She is learning at her mother's side just as a good girl should! BAM

Here she is listening to her Papa! He just saw her trying to "escape" again to the garden!

Well here she is with all her grown up feathers! She still "Peeps",like a baby ,and sleeps with Mama, but she goes on her own from time to time . The whole time she is never more than 20 feet from mama!

I dont worry about Hard Rock or any of her family taking their afternoon stroll ! Mr. Pepito and his big brother Deisel keep "Would BE" predators at bay, or at least Villains think twice before bothering anybody!

Eufaula, I know what you mean. I've got a dog that 'watches' over things also. She doesn't bother the chickens any, doesn't bother our cat that we let outside once in a while, but if a stray cat comes around, or a racoon, or wild geese, ducks or pigeons or ground hogs she 'attacks'.
Here's a picture of her with the hen we had a couple years ago. That was our trial run.

Here's another pic with her and the same chicken. Also shows how tame that chicken was. She came right up on the patio. The kids taught her to come up there and we soon realized that it was not a good idea - droppings. So we don't 'teach' our chickens we have now to come up there. But it was cute.

And here's one showing how friendly she was with people, also. This is my husband - on the left - and a friend. Now, the friend wasn't so sure about this. He made sure he kept an eye on her. This was the first time he had ever seen a chicken that was that friendly.

Oh what a beautiful Astrolorpe Hen! And is your Puppy a Lab? They are great! Its wonderful to see that othe people can raise their animals to get along and help each other!

I always said its how you raise you animals. If you show them love and care and respect they All respond the same way!

Yes, she's a lab cross. Daughter brought her home from work one day. She has about a 30-45 minute drive to work and back. The puppy sat on her lap the whole way home - she was only 6 or 7 wks old - and the first thing she did when she was taken out of the car and put down on the grass was throw up and pee. Daughter figured that was a good enough sign that she was a keeper. LOL. That was back in the spring of '04.

Toooo funny! Lab mixes are good babies! I used to have a Lab -Chow, named " Mingo Snake Killer", and that is exactly what he would do! He would grab any snake, that he found crossing the yard, in its middle, then give it a quick shake and pop the snake in half, Ugh!
