Need help on fairly new brugmansia

Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi Everybody, I'm pretty new here in DG, and have 3 brugs, 1 is a well established plant that blooms pretty often, and 2 others are still young, never bloom yet.
One of them that I got off ebay about a month ago, seems to be a rooted cutting, is the one that I have questions. When I got it the roots were very healthy looking, about 2 feet tall. It has also "Y"ed, pretty healthy looking even though it had no leaves when I received it. I potted it in a 3 gallon pot. I've been watering it every other day. It started growing leaves, but it seems to be top heavy, it has at least 4 pretty large leaves and small ones on the tip of the stem, and it's grown a bit taller. The stem seems to be too skinny and tall to hold the leaves that it now droops, but the leaves aren't wilting. I was surprised when I saw it today, because yesterday it was still straight. Is this normal? What should I do? Do I just need to prop it so it's straight again? The pot is in a location that gets morning sun and afternoon shade, maybe it needs more sun? Or maybe it needs food? The potting mix that I used says that it won't need to be fed for up to 3 months. Is it too much to water it every other day? I've been doing this(watering routine) for a month though. Any answers/comments/suggestions are appreciated. Thank you very much!

Sally

I wouldn't water unless the soil is dry if you stick your finger into it. As soil dries, it makes the roots grow toward the moisture that is left and that helps your brug develop strength in the roots that hold it in position. Don't let it go bone dry, but make it work for it's drinks. Also, the soil you have it in, doesn't have enough food in it to sustain a plant the size of a brug. I'd still feed it once or twice a week with a good water soluable fertilizer like Peters or Miracle grow. Morning sun is good.

Thanks for your input, Brugie....
