I have to tell the story so you can all understand how precious this is to me. Before my Mother died she told me she would come back as a hummer. I have hummer around me in the garden since I began gardening but never like I have since she died. They have touched my face, danced in the dripping hose water at my feet etc. My Dad passed away in April and since then I have encountered hummers every few days that actually sit still while I talk to them and let me take pics. It's like they are saying it's okay now...they are together again. Here's another pic I took last week.

Great pic! What kind of Hummer is that first pic? What kind of Hummer is that second pic?

We only get the Ruby Throated kind in our area, but I plant all kinds of things for them every year.

We have 2 Hummingbird feeders out (with perches).

Well, I see why they are extra special to you. It must give you a warm feeling every time you see a hummer.

KactusKathi,
Thank you for sharing your story about your special Hummers. It was so beautiful...I had chills when I read it. What a wonderful thing to have happen. The Hummers are so pretty, we only have the Ruby Throated here.

My guesses are Anna's for the first and Magnificent for the second.

What delightful photos!! And Kathi, what a sweet story! I'm so glad I checked out this thread...
I'm totally new to this forum, but I'd like to tell you my own little story: I was in the Oregon Cascades last month, with my henna-red hair wound up into a bun on the top of my head. The wee hummers were flying right up to check it out! I was completely enchanted. We've got hummingbirds in our neighborhood; I've seen two males fighting over my back yard. I've always liked them, but I returned from my trip determined to cater to them more specifically. They're so amazing!
