I have loved the look of peacocks for a long time and I am very seriously considering getting a couple. Can anyone give me information on how to be a good peacock parent and where to get them?

For a start, you need a fairly fat wallet. :>) Then you need a good tight tall building for them to roost in in bad weather. In good weather they seem to prefer to roost in trees, on peaks of buildings, etc. at night. Do your research and decide which color you want. Then go to bird swaps and see what you can find. Or advertise and see what you find in your local area. We have one male. We have gotten a couple females but they didn't seem to like Moses and didn't really cozy up to him as we had hoped. Both disappeared. That was a lot of money to just disappear so we stopped trying.
I've found it you keep them contained outside for a few weeks ,so they can see their surroundings, they stick around when you let them loose
My hens dissappear when they are nesting ,then reappear when they hatch the babies
I got mine at poultry auctions
if you buy in the fall they are much cheaper than in the spring
The males won't have a tail then but it will grow out over the winter
