A new generation is here!

Last week I got this photo- I don't know what the butterfly is, but it is on the same plant that was home to several Giant Swallowtails last year (see my earlier posts) and I have been hoping they would be back -it is several tangerine seedlings that I grew jus by throwing seeds in a pot! This morning I looked and there are a lot of eggs and some tiny caterpillars !! See my next post for a photo.

Congrats! I've been seeing one that comes every day lately, but evidently it's a male. No eggs or caterpillars show up on my Hop Trees. The same thing happened last year. The male just keeps coming until finally a female shows up, then there will be eggs.

We have more Swallowtails this year than I've ever seen. They are so beautiful! We have lots of plants to entice them here.
