Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar 'Glauca Pendula'
Cedrus atlantica

Just moved into a new house that has this 28 footer growing out front. The Wife hates it and says it has to go!

Wow... that is an incredible specimen... must be an old plant. I would never let that go!!

Ditto Palmbob's comment!
I don't know how well it fits into the landscaping but it sure would be a shame seeing that one go.

My husband loves these things and in fact we just planted one this spring. I didn't know they get that big, though. Somebody else on DG(I don't remember who) has one of these growing on a fence backing her garden. She showed pics of it with blooming lilacs and they look really nice together.

Tell your wife that it can't go. Those of us on DG said it has to stay.

It's beautiful. I hope your wife will reconsider. I'd love to have that plant on my front fence. I think this plant is generally thought to be quite attractive.

It is very unique. I love it. Tell your wife it still can't go. We won't allow it!! LOL

Thanks for all the support on the Weeping Cedar. I consulted my cousin Who does High end landscapping and thought he might be able to use it but alas he said no, it was too big for any of his clients. He did tell me to contact the Oregon garden's to see if they could use it. I definately won't just remove it, but I am trying to find it a new home. Thanks again.

Let us know what happens.

Unfortunately,
Everyone informed me that the tree was too large to move. I contacted many large tree firms, locals who were interested, the Oregon Gardens and some arborists that I work with, and all of them said it was just too big. I had no alternative but to remove it shortly thereafter. My neighbors said that they hadn’t “seen” the house in 20 years. Thanks for your interest; I wish it could have gone differently.
