Why does this pesty beetle seem to prefer my herbs?

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Its a small to medium striped beetle thats hops around fast and leave brown spots on my herbs. Its on almost all my herbs but not on surrounding roses or flowers.
I sprayed with insecticial soap but don't know if that will kill them.
Does anybody know what they are and how to get rid of them without using chemicals?

spider has a post here in herbs brown spots on mints, I mentioned that it was a pesty little beatle LOL, that's doing the damage, probably the same kind as yours. What's he eating? which herbs?

maybe neem spray early in the morning or late in the evening will choke him out.

I've seen them on my mints causing brown spots guess it's where they've eaten.

kathy

not sure what attracts them to the strong scent though, unless that's what their attracted to LOL
