Wanted to share this photo of Allamanda Cherries Jubilee! My grandson and I have been watching this huge bud for days and this morning I went outside and it was open! He will be excited when he sees it later today!
OT
Yummy ! What kind of plant is this ? Does it smell good !
It is gorgeous. i had never seen this plant before.
anna i think you could grow iot there...the usual YELLOW alamanda (some times name brown) is available most places
allison..you probably have seen the yellow ones in your area and certainly the purple would grow there
Very pretty ! Is it a vine type plant ? I'm sure I've seen it at Lowes but have not been to a store for years.
They are a bit cold sensitive and the yellow is more common. I think they are more common in FL although the nurseries sell them here in the summer. I had turned them down in the past but somehow decided in this past winter that I had to have one- not the yellow mind you, which is easy to come by, but the cherries jubilee and chocolate cream- well supplies were down due to all the storms in FL last year- one guy in FL was selling the chocolate swirl in a 4 inch pot for close to 30.00 and then the cherries jubilee in a quart pot for 30.00! I didn't go for it but was tempted; did mail order the chocolate- hasn't bloomed yet- in a small quart for about 7.00 and then found the cherries jubilee locally in a quart for about 7.00. I do like them they are so lovely and Anna the flower is huge! I am pretty sure you could grow them there as well, might have to mulch heavy in the winter or grow in pots and bring them in during the cold. I have mine in pots now because I plan on moving within the next 9 mos or so and have enough to dig up and pot as it is.

Allison yes it is a vining plant- you can find it in plant files:

I also have the purple/violet one- not sure if it's different really; the buds haven't opened on it yet but unopened they look suspiciously the same. Will let you know.

I think it would look great outside where you could see it...where the morning glory grows!!!
Yes I think I remember seeing them a couple years ago pink and yellow ones and had some to buy but it said vine and at time we had a lot of vines and no place to put it. I already have Morning Glory Seeds and more vines coming up !
I am a fool for vines, just can't seem to say no and don't know where I will put them all...well maybe my kids will have to move out! LOL
That's cute. When we lived down the other home we had more room but we had several garden bed . I love my Morning Glories each morning having new flowers to smile at me !
And yours are so pretty! Most that I see are pale and yours are so vibrant! I love them.
i was given the seeds by dg joesph and i think they are from japan he gave ne the names i had like 6 kinds some were planted later so are just starting to climb
Isn't it interesting to see the different cultivars from different countries?
Yes ! I don't know a lot about them how to look at one and know their names. We did not mark their names so when they bloom they are a surprise !
Hubby did not plant all the seeds at one time so now I have new vines surprises coming along !
Just saw your bloom and she is a beauty.
Ohh! Love the blooms!
They are pretty aren't they? I had contacted Andrea Gardino of Gardino Nursery regarding them and she emailed just the other day that they have 3 gal size- and that's pretty good size for about 25.00- give or take. She's so nice. Anyway thought I'd pass that on in case any of you were so moved.
