My Mom bought a couple AVs for me and one of them I can't find (the other is a NOID). The label says 'Bia' but I can't find any information about it anywhere. The blooms were all faded, but one had a bit of life left and if I remember correctly it was a medium to dark purple. This was just a couple weeks ago, so it hasn't rebloomed for me yet to confirm the bloom color. I've yet to repot or remove the sucker from it, but I'll get to that as soon as I can.
Thanks!
AV named Bia?
I remeber when you got this plant or someone else got one with the same name. Did it have an Optimara packaging. There is no Optimara, Rhapsodie, nore Ultra Violet plant in FC with the name Bia. Have you checked Optimara web sight some plants were never put in FC .
It sure is a pretty plant !
Edit to say' I don't speak English but I understand it !

No, it's not Optimara, or at least it doesn't indicate that it is. Let me go see what the tag says...
Nature's Heritage - Grown by VWI Fletcher, NC 28732
I've gotten quite a few of these with the Nature's Heritage labels on them.
I've seen other people got plants by them. I don't know how you would find out about it.
I have this cute pretty plant named Little Teddy ~
I bought it from D&P when they were going out of business. Same place I got my pretty girl leaf plant named Frilly. I never thought either would live. Now their both beautiful. But I can't find info about them anywhere.
Allison, I have Rhapsodie Clementine- there are no Rhapsodie AVs in FC? Is that just because they haven't been entered?
Rhapsodie are in FC . I gave you that plant !Rhapsodie Clementine (8341) 12/14/1995 (Holtkamp) Single light blue ruffled star. Dark green, pointed, serrated/red back. Standard
:)) :)) :)) :)) :))
What I was saying Raspberry Queen is not in the Rhapsodie series nor is it by Optimara.
RASPBERRY QUEEN (Unknown)) RASPBERRY QUEEN (Unknown) - Semidouble/double pink with raspberry glitter and raspberry edge.
Standard (User Database)
I searched FC for plants with "bia" in the name and found 'Bianca'. The other plants didn't start with "Bia" but had names like 'Ambiance' and 'Columbia Queen'.... if the "B" on your label isn't capitalized and might not be at the beginning of the name, LMK!
Here's the description,
Bianca (8482) 09/23/1996 (F. Tinari) Double white ruffled large/pink-tinged center. Medium green, spooned, serrated. Standard
And here's the photo from FC:
I was thinking about that to Jill except her flowers were purple to dark purple.
I found Bianca, but that's not it. I don't know all the correct names for blooms, but this one, if I'm remembering correctly, was what I assume a single star would be. It's a simple bloom, not frilly. I got two that day and one had a hint of white on it, but I can't remember which one. The plants themselves looked very healthy, but the blooms on both of them were essentially faded away. One bloom on each plant had a distinguishable color, but was partly brown.
OK... here are the 2 purple ones with "bia" in their names... sorry, no FC photos for either of them.
Arabian Purple (Dennee) Semidouble violet star. Plain. Standard
Caravan Arabian Night (911) 08/14/1957 (Buynak) Single dark purple frilled. Dark green, fluted. Large
There are also lots of unregistered named varieties. Does the tag look like it's just a partial name?
Hey I found it!! It's not purple, but deep pink according to this picture. Bia is the 5th one down on the left. The one directly below it, Hananja, is the other one I got that same day, so that must be where I'm remembering the purple from.
I also have a leaf with ears of Sonia, directly above Bia, and I have Tamires, very bottom of the left column. I sent a sucker of that to Pam in her bunny box.

I actually did another Google search and found this link on the AV brats site. It says this is the Nature's Heritage list, but I don't know. Regardless, I'm glad I found it. I remember now that I liked that one because of the white edges, and of course, Hananja is sort of blue. :o)
Thanks for helping, ladies! I love a mystery solved! LOL
Jan bought a Bia last Nov /Dec somewhere around there and we search then too.
Jan how is your Bia ?
There are so many unresgistered AV's like 20 thousand and more each day.
None of the Harmony's are registered or in FC.
It des not have to be registered to be in FC.
My Frilly Av and my Little Teddy AV I got both from D&P when they were going out of business and I have never been able to find anything about them.
Well, good, we solved the mystery for Jan, too! Did she post a picture that you remember? I'd like to see it if she did.
WOW that's awesome Amy good find ! I know Jan has one of these maybe Jesse too .
So happy you could fine it.
Many, Many thousands of AVs are not in First class...
I was searching to see if she did ? I know she posted she had it in the first secret bunny swap but I don't think she did a picture.
I was wrong about the other one being a NOID, too. Imagine that...I forgot. LOL I remember now I got the NOID the following day. I really need to start writing this stuff down...
I write the names right on the pots! If I'm potting in a ceramic pot with an unglazed bottom or a selfwatering pot with unglazed inner pot, I just use a pencil on the unglazed tile and it works pretty well (works on terra cotta, too). Plastic pots get labeled with Industrial Sharpie pen... and I do re-use pots (after washing & bleaching), but I just cross out the old name and write on the other side. I also put dates in a sort of shorthand... L 3-27 means the leaf went down for propagation on March 27. An upwards arrow followed by a date is when the plantlet was up-potted. A double up-arrow indicates a second up-potting. I often copy the previous dates when I up-pot, so I have a little propagation record for the plant right on the pot. For me, it works much better than trying to keep track in a notebook.
On the other hand, I did have a list of AV names printed out that I'd been propagating so I could keep track of both how many plantlets were available and of who had put that plant on their wish list in my trade tracker. So I do resort to written notes also! I started putting DGer names on plantlet pots, but then I'd lose a plantlet or it would start growing oddly, and I'd have to try to switch the sticker.... the list worked better! But I think it drove Nanna crazy when she visited, because each plant that she wanted had to be looked up on the list to see if it was actually available or if they'd all been promised!
Amy I fount Jesse's Bia ! And she has a picture

I Dmailed Jan to see if she still has her.
Oretty plant !
