Is my passion fruit edible?

Visalia, CA(Zone 7a)

I have a passiflora Aurantia. It has a small fruit starting, but the tag doesn't say if it is edible.I couldn't find the cultivar online. Anyone know?

According to the following website, the pulp is edible but not especially palatable.

There is a passiflora called Herbertiana that comes from the same area and is extremely closely related and the fruit tasted absolutely terrible. I would imagine that this one would be similar. I think the seeds are supose to grow pretty easily so it might be better suited as a hobby than eating.

Get an P.edulus or P. incarnata to produce fruit you can eat and also tastes good - reliable bloomers, too.
