Can I transfer data on hard drive after lightning

Lightning damaged my computer last Thursday. I had to buy new computer. Is there a way I can transfer data from my old hard drive to a CD? You can hear the fan running, but two repair places couldn't get it to work without replacing the motherboard and CPU. That would be $250 for parts alone, so I bought a new computer. I desperately need data from old hard drive. Is this possible??
