too late to buy a coldframe?

The gardening section of the newspaper had a great article on coldframes, where to buy them, how to make them, etc. I am new to the PNW, so don't know if I would get any use out of it if I bought it now. Is it too late? Are they only useful in the winter/early spring? thanks

You can use them this fall for allot of things. Salad stuff works great in them. I say go for it. Winter gardening is loads of fun.
