Nice pond! What is the netting you have over it? What do you use it for?

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

3 reasons. I have a problem with blue herons and with snakes. It also keeps leaves out. Takes away from the view, but definatly protects my babies.

(Zone 9a)

So far I haven't seen snakes or blue herons, but I understand protecting the babies. I've had a few panic attacks when I couldn't find the fish right away.

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

I know what you mean. I have started ripping plants out of my pond on more than one occasion. Now that I have it netted, I dont panic so easy. I have replaced my fish 3 times already. Once they find the pond , they keep coming back.

I love your waterfall!!!!

Your pond is beautiful,Lisa!!
The little frogs are so cute.
Is the red round dish floating,a solar light?
If so where did you find yours & how do you rate them?

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

I have a couple of solar color balls that I have in a fountain. paid 25 bucks for each on ebay. I do like them because they change colors. Only problem with them is if you dont thread them closed just right , they leak. However, the ones in the pond I got for ten bucks each at Home Depot. They work really well too. I like em

Do the ones, you have in the pond change color or you buy the color or colors, you want? I bet they are pretty at night.
I will make a trip to HD & check & see if our's have them-we don't get great stuff, like other HDs.

The ones at Home Depot are one color. I got a blue one and a pink one. The ones I got on ehay change colors. I like em both

Is your waterfall a preformed feature that is covered with rocks and plants to disguise it? Or did you create it from all natural material? I can't tell. It looks great.

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

No, I created it with the dirt the came from the hole I dug.

(Zone 9a)

I thought it looked more natural than a preformed one. I couldn't make the fall that came with my pond look good, plus I was short on time, so I just put in only the pond. I want to add a water fall and eliminate the fountain spray.

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

I took a big pile of dirt, fashioned some steps where I would put the slate rock, covered the dirt pile with pond liner. Then I put a small preformed container on top. I placed my slate rock where the water would fall, added Arizona river rock on the sides of the pile, put some plants in the container on top, put in my tubing from my pump , and viola.

Beautiful pond!

It looks great. The container is a good idea.

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

You cant see the container because it sits down in the rocks, but has several plants in it which act as a natural filter.

Rylaff, beautiful job well done. Looks very natural. BAM

Beaverton, OR

Nice.

That's a bit like what we're aiming for with our's that we put in several weeks ago.

It's a rainbow cobble fall area, and the little pond is edged with mortared quartzite flagstone.

The idea is for the plantings to shroud the entire thing with foliage, so that only part of the rock shows.

Yours is nicely vegetated.
