Both my South Shore Rose and Trail Along are blooming and doing well but growing in natural light no room on stands so it's hard for them to put on such a sjow. But I still enjoy growing them in the windows.

Kaclo Kan's plant is the Mother of your plant ! I took a leaf off her's before shipping it to her last Winter. I got three babies from the leaf ! One I kept one went to you and someone else on the forum got one but I forget who off hand.

Allison,These are grow in natural light also.They seem to like it.
Yes mine seems to like it also. If you can get some good light plants really grow better in natural light !

Light is the most important thing for a lor of flowers.
ME all babies and leaves are on my four shelf of lights 8 ft x 3 ft about 16 4 ft grow light NO room for my plants lol
I have some plants that bloom all the times and some even under the light all the right conditions and they still won't bloom. Go figure ? I can't figure it out either.
I have some that need to be repotted for sure. Plus, I'm out of vf-11 :( And my best plant light is going out or something....
BUT, my very first av, a mini noid from Lowe's is blooming again!! That little guy is just a trooper. And Lillian Sparkler is still at it...so beautiful. South Shore Rose is one that needs to be repotted up a notch.
I understand what ya saying I've been out VF-11 forever lol and some of my light tubes are year old I try here and there to re-place some.
But my new soil-less mix has food in it so they should be fine Does your have any food in it ?

Hmmm...I think it does. I know the last potting mix I got was MG and mixed that with perlite so the ones I have repotted have it. I'm going to try and eek some potting mix and vf-11 out of this month's check :)
You know I think even the MG Perlite bag said it had food in it. So if there is food in your mix you won't want to use VF-11 or any other kind or it will get over dosed. I know some bags say foor up to 9 months. And your plants look so good !

You know Allison I can't help but wonder if some of how slow the plants you sent to me have been to bloom is that I don't use VF-11 and so maybe they had to make a big adjustment- not only not under lights but off their feed so to speak? Of course my overwatering wasn't a big help! Live and learn.
Over Water will surely do it. Natural light does it for sure. I have lot's of plants mostly isolated ones in natural light they do not grow nor bloom. Light it the most important thing . Without light no blooms/slow growth.
I was not even using Vf-11 when growing your plants. In the past year I have bought it once and with the amount of my plants I have it does not last long. I use it outside when I have it too.
But The soil-less mix I've been using has food in it so I have not used and fertilizer for long time. I have been totaly out.
I read a long article in old Av /gesneriad journal and the hybridizer said and explained that your plants can do without the food but not the light.
Ps I can't aford Vf-11 even Jaccki was going to send me cheap. So I have not fed my Av's for long, long time.
BUt other people's plants from me bloom . Jan for one her's grow crazy and bloom, Jesse, Jackie here has no food nor light and Gosh her plants specialy Lilian Sparkler drives me crazy it has grown so much and her flowers make me drool.
All O cam say is trans-plant them into the kind of soil you use, don't over water. If your soil does not have food you the type you like with no Urea and give your plants as much light as you can :))
