Geese eating Comfrey...is that ok?

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Now that my geese have grown up they seem to love my Comfrey.
They are constantly nibbling on my stand of Comfrey.
I know humans are recommended to not use Comfrey internally.
I was wondering if it has the same toxic effect on animals.

Rose, in my experience, comfrey has to be taken in large constant doses to be toxic to humans. I avoid it out of caution, but it's not as dangerous as one might believe; at least I don't think so and I'm not any kind of doctor. And my experience with geese is that they won't eat things that hurt them. As long as they have other things to eat and they're not eating the comfrey because it's a last resort for a starving bird, I wouldn't worry. And if you're worrying about your geese, I suspect they do have other things to eat! You might throw some sort of screen over the comfrey for a few days, if that's practical, and then observe the geese for any distress. If they seem fine in a week, I'd think the comfrey is OK.

Thanks much for the info.
I know alot of people feed Comfrey to their livestock but I was just curious about it since the geese have been mowing on it pretty heavy.
Thye free range and have access to grass and other greens so not its not the only thing they are eating.
I put a little fence around it so it can come back.
