Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

This was just so pretty I had to take a close up for all of you to see. I just love this. It is Ness' Blue Wonder and how wonderful it is.

Here is another beauty that maybe some of you can help me with. This was not a NOID. I bought it with a name tag but some how lost it. Does anyone know what this beauty is?

Wow! Great Flowers!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Very nice Jesse. I think your plant maybe Ness's Blue Wave !
It matches pictures in FC and there is no Blue Wonder that I am aware of. Sure is a beauty !
Ness' Blue Wave (D. Ness) Single light blue sticktite pansy/lighter top petals. Dark green, serrated/red back. Small standard

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I believe you are right Allison. I got this from Bluebird's so I got out the tag to confirm what it said and it says Ness' Blue Wonder. But I checked on thier website, and sure enough it is called Ness' Blue Wave. Great catch on that Allison. I will make sure to talk to them about it the next time I go. Thanks for getting this straightened out so that I can name all of my plants correctly. Here is the site showing that they call it Ness' Blue Wave if anyone is interested. http://www.bluebirdgreenhouse.com/html/std09.htm Also, if you look at the next item on that same page, it is called Ness' Blueberry Puff. Well I bought 2 from them, one called Ness' Blueberry Puff and Ness' Blackberry Puff and it seems that they are the same flower. My two AVs are identical but with two different names so I'm going to talk to them about this also.

Jesse
There is no Ness' Blackberry Puff either. Your tag said this ? Seems like you got two Ness' Blueberry Puff.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh it's easy to catch them when you've grown them all. lol and have been threw FC a zillion of times. Can't catch them all but have seen a lot.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Jesse the picture aove where you lost the name tag where and when did you buy it ? The picture is sorta dark hard for me to make out.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes I think they are both Ness' Blueberry Puff. They look identical so I'm sure they are both blueberry puff. I am beginning to notice this with not only one but several of their plants. So if anyone wants to order from them, look it up in first class first to make sure it is a real plant before ordering. I have got some great deals from them, I really have but I need to be more careful with my names when I go.

Jesse

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I am not sure where I got it but I can take a better photo for you if you would like. I can do that now and I will be right back.

Jesse

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Hopefully this will be a better photo.

Jesse as long as you are Happy with the plants all that maters. They have sent me some with wrong names or not real names . Like I ordered a name trailer. They were out of it. So I said just send any other named trailer. I did not think they sold NOIDS ~ At their prices. But they sent me a plant they new nothing about not in FC or anywhere to be fount . Libbie said she picked it up at a show and did not know it was not named.
Then I ordered Mini's and she sent me one named Bay's Breath . I told her Baby Breath is not a minature in FC . She said the plant again was picked up at a show mis-named and she would save them for retail for people who don't care what the names are.
I don't care what the names are if I go to say Lowes and buy a an African violet because I fell in love with it's beauty for a couple $$$. But if I do order a plant with a name and pay for this name plant I expect to get the named plant I paid for. This has not always happened. The first couple times I did not say anything but when it kept happening they making these no name substitutes then I did start saying and getting refunds for Noids !
Jesse if you knew who you bought your plant from and who..like Bluebirds.Optimara ... might be easier to ID ... But probaly going to be impossible without some kind of information with some thirty thousand Avs out there.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Sure is pretty Jesse ! Did you post her before ? Looks familiar ?

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm not sure if I have or not but I think what I will do from now on is go to Bluebird's with a list of ones that I want in my hand. Walking up and down the isles you see so many you want and you uuhhhh and awww because they are so pretty. But I am going to go with a list of things that I want and that way I will get what I want. Right now there are a few on my list that I want so I am going to look for them.

Jesse

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

That will be a good thing to do. And know what he plants you want look like.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Well we just got a new color laser printer from this man that my DH is doing some work for, so what I'm going to do is print out what I want and the correct name for it. That way I will have the name and the photo with me. From now on I'm not going to be as "unimformed" as I have been. I will go with my little book that I keep all of my stuff in and I will know what I'm going to buy. And I will get what I pay for. I think that is a good idea.

Jesse

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

That's a good idea . Your plant above I was thinking most likly might be an Optimara or even their Rhapsodie series.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I will keep looking for the tag. Sometimes it gets stuck under something so I'm always looking for it. I finally found the tag to Dali and Chico so I was glad about that. So hopefully the other one is around here somewhere.

Jesse

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I was looking at some plants you had posted the closest I came was to your Chico . But you say you have the tag with correct plant all ready ?

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Allison, I think you found it!!!! I have found the tag but had not matched it up with the plant yet. And I just looked on Optimara's website and my plant is identical to Chico. So I think you solved the riddle.

Allison, what would all of us do without you? Speaking for myself, I think I would be lost. You actually took the time to help me match the name to the plant. Not many people would have done that. Thank you so much. I'm so happy now.

Jesse

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Well it look like one you posted before. So I went back and looked at plants you posted and you had posted it with a name. It really was simple !
Happy to help. Even with name tags I still have to write the names on the pots . Too mny tags fall off or get lost. And I never re-use pots ... New pots are bleached clean , used pots are thrown out.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I think that is a great idea and I'm going to start doing that. The tags do fall of and get lost so easily so I think I will start writing the names on the pots. And I don't reuse them because I will be sending the pot with the plant when I send out plants. I hope you don't mind if I copy you, but I thought it was so nice that the plants you sent me were in nice little pots with the wicks already in them. So that is what I am doing. When ever I split the babies from their mom, I go ahead and put them in the little 2½ green pots and put wicks in them so they are ready to go into someone else's wick trays when they get them. I thought that was so nice of you to do that, so that is what I'm doing.

This will save me a lot of headache too. I will be able to pick up a plant and look at its name. I cannot remember all of them either. There are just too many to remember. It will be so much easier with the name on the pot.

Jesse

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I have always put my plants in new bleached pots. Even when i sold them. The first person I bought plants from on Ebay her plants were always in pots, good size most times blooming. She had them wicked and in these cute little white slip pots.
I figure if someone does not like the wick they can pull it out.
But I feel good when I sed a plant out in a nice clean pot with fresh soil-less mix. A nice presentation .
Now if I run out of pots and I get too broke might have to put babies in solo cups. lol

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Well you are doing a great job and that is why I want to copy you. You are a great inspiration to me and I want to do things the way you do since it is so great. And you really do motivate me at times when I'm really down. I wrestle with depression all the time since I'm bipolar and borderline and you really help me get motivated when I'm so down. So thanks for all of your inspiration and motivation. You have helped me much more than you know.

Jesse

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh your so sweet. Thank you.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

How do you know if a plant like Chico is a plain AV or a chimera? I have some that are striped and I've never thought about it before, but some of mine could possibly be chimeras. If so, putting leaves down will not do me any good. So how can I determine if a stiped AV is a real chimera?

Jesse

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Ok, let me get this straight, that gorgeous plant and flower in the 2nd photo is Chico? That is too pretty, I love it. Also love Blue Wave, but Chico is very striking! Nice photos and good follow up.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks April. I thought both of them were so pretty and I just love the striped ones.

Jesse

Jesse, you have some of the prettiest AVs! Thank you for sharing them with us!

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

You are all welcome. I just love showing them to you guys because you appreciate the beauty of them and you see them for what they really are. Some people think that they are just another pretty flower but it goes much deeper than that. I think that taking a leave off of a plant and putting it down and watching it grow babies is so amazing. I never would have known all of this if it weren't for you all.

Jesse

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I love growing babies by leaf also !
