A question about philodendron

Barboursville, WV(Zone 6a)

A friend blessed me today with a little pot of philo starts ...I'm too excited.

From what I can tell there is ..

Philo Green
Philo Brazil
and Philo Silver

They are all in one pot. Is that ok for now til they get a little larger? Do they all require the same care?

Thanks!

By Philo green, do you mean the green heart-leaved scandens? The 'Brasil' may need more light than the scandens to retain its variegation. It tends to be a bit more fussy than the scandens, so I'd put it all by itself.

The silver philo- can you describe the leaf shape? Is it spade leafed or heart-shaped like the other two? Pics would be even better!

My camera battery was dead on the first thread.. I had enough juice to get these off it lol..

Having the "real" names would be great..obviously I spelled brasil wrong lol..but here it is

Here's the "silver"

After doing some looking online, someone said this .. about this plant ..

It was an Angel Brand Plant and they called "Philodendron 'Silver'", giving the scientific name as scindapsus picta. Several other garden sites have it as a philodendron also.

So now I don't know what it is LOL

My friend said it was labled Philodendron Silver too ..and an EA plant .. so I dunno..I still think it's pretty

Houseplants4less says this

Silver Philodendron Plant
( Scindapsus Picta )

The Silver Philodendron Plant Is A Rare Plant .

Well, OF COURSE it's a rare Philo if it's really a Pothos HAHA

crazy4vines, Your silver philo looks a lot like my Satin Pothos. This one is 'Argyraeus.'

I found out that it doesn't like hard water (see the brown spots?) and unless you have soft water, you might want to use rain or distilled water.

I tell ya, hard water is rough on plants. Some plants, like the spider plant for me, just don't deal well with hard water.

redprincess, I assumed you wouldn't want a slip of mine since it's got brown spots, but I just saw one at Lowe's for $2.80 or so and thought I'd tell ya- yours may have one also. If not, I can ask around town if someone will be going up to the city again soon (over 100 miles round trip so I don't go much, but I can usually find someone nearby who's going) and could have them pick one that I could ship to you.
