Another frog to identify

Claremore, OK

I have about four different frogs running around my pond and land right now. This one seems to like to hang out in shallow water areas. I'd say he/she is maybe around a U.S. quarter coin size.

Do you know the name of this frog or somebody I can ask to identify the frog(s).

Thanks,

Deb

Take a look at the basic green frog (bronze subspecies).

Thanks. I think I'm going to see if anyone at the State's extension office can tell me about frogs around this part of Oklahoma.

A great place to go to ID frogs in your zipcode is enature.coms zip guides .The desciptions even have a sound bite of the frogs call :)

Great web site! I found my pond frog on it and discovered it's a Red-legged Frog. I had mis-identified it. Luckily it's used to me enough now to let me get up close and personal. lol It's been losing habitat and is on the endangered list per enature.com.

I don't know frogs very well but I do know that there are good herpetologists at both OU and OSU (Stan Fox comes to mind) that can identify frogs and lizards easily.

I agree, that enature site is great, it is always a big help when we find something we aren't sure about.

That's a great site, Teresa.

This one is cute also. Thank you all for all the input.

Yes , I LOVE Enatures field guides . My 5 year old gets so excited when he spots a new type of frog ;he heads straight to the computer to look it up on enature , where he replays the frog calls over and over ... and... over.... LOL !
it's so terrific that you're providing habitat for Red Legged Frogs ,KatyMac :)

I've been delighted with my visitors this year. I found several baby salamanders but didn't want to mess with them enough to get photos. I've had a few snakes that appear to have hibernated in the rocks under my little pond, just the garden variety. And birds, birds, birds this year. It's wonderful! Oh, and moles, lots it seems. KittyMoose brought one in yesterday evening. She set up such a yowling both Boomer and I went running. LOL She was very proud! After admiring her and it (ugh!) I duly disposed of it.

you are so lucky to have salamanders ! Ive succeeded beyond my wildest dreams here attracting lots of types of frogs ,birds ,bugs and yes snakes LOL but Ive NEVER seen a single salamander ....
Id really feel like I'd accomplished something if I had a salamander set up residancy here :)
