Coffee and Brugs

Gainesville, FL(Zone 8b)

I've been getting used coffee grounds from Starbucks to put on my roses, azaleas, gardenias, and camellias. Today I read the label on the bag (imagine!), and it says that coffee grounds are "green," meaning they are high in nitrogen. From what I've read, Brugs love nitrogen, but they also love a neutral ph. What do y'all think about side dressing brugs that are planted in the ground with coffee grounds?

Thanks in advance for helping me -- I need all the help I can get!

Dunno, but I pour my cup of cold coffee on my houseplants. You should see them blooming. Gloxinia, Chocolate Soldier Episcia, etc.

Yep --all the left over coffee here goes into the ground or a into pot. The houseplants do love it, too.

Ah, we drink most of the coffee here up, but now I have some food, err, should I say beverage? for thought.
My father in law swears by the grounds, just like he does eggshells.
Can you pour it even if there is milk in the coffee?

Doesn't Brugs like Calcium, I know mine does. So the milk in the coffee should help.

Don't go by what I have typed I know nothing. But would be interested in finding out what others think.

I do not drink coffee and I can't stand the smell. If you get the grounds, do they make your garden smell of coffee?

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

No they don't Kell. My husband used to get bags and bags of grounds from Starbucks for me. I guess I need to get him going again. I did notice that I had more worms in the area's that I put the grounds than in some of the area's.

I do notice a faint smell of coffee (I like it!), Kell, but I'm in a different climate than you and I just toss the grounds on the top soil. If I dug them in, I doubt I would notice the smell.

What do you think about the ph issue? Would coffee grounds make the ph too acidic for brugs?
