No, your eyes do NOT deceive you. The red bucket is NOT upside down. That IS a tomato plant growing out the BOTTOM of the bucket. NO cage or stakes NEEDED!!! hehehehe Plus, you can plant your green onions, radishes, lettuce in the TOP, and waalaahhh!!, instant salad, lol

NO Stake, NO Cage Tomatos
Did you grow it from seed in there? How do you get the tomato in a bucket? LOL!
How do you KEEP the tomato in a bucket?
This is patented, I cant tell you ALL my secrets, lol. Otherwise YOU could do the same thing!! lol
Best Regards;
bluelytes
bluelytes, I can pretty much guarantee you're going to have a squashed tomato plant as the plant and tomatoes get heavier if you don't replace that twine with strong wire or nylon cording. And if you use wire slip it inside some tubing and use that to reinforce the holes in the bucket. I've done this but got lazy when I moved here and bought Topsy Turvey planters. They're a bear to plant but hold up very well.
KATY,
LOL, I know, but it was just for show off purposes, hehehehe. Ok, KATY, you sucked me IN, "Topsy Turvey" planters??? BTW, am I gonna see you at the plant sale tomorrow or sun at the one in shelton??
POOCH,
Elementary my Dear POOCH!! You make the hole SMALLER than the tomato!! heheheh
TIFF,
NO re: from seed. I cheated. I bought as pregrowed plant, SMALL, and stuffed the leafs thru the hole, (about 1 1/2" square in the bottom of the bucket, and back filled, hehehe.

Hey bluelytes, I'll be there if I can get the old body moving. I've been overdoing it the last few weeks then the wet, colder weather moved in. Oh well, I played, now I'm paying. LOL I want to check out Highland Gardens Nursery too, they're supposed to be having a big sale this weekend.
KATY,
Highland Gardens??

Yeah, the new nursery I mentioned in another post. I noticed signs (next to Verle's Boats) coming back from my aunt's birthday party this evening.
KATY,
Another night owl I see, lol. I take it this is NOT the one next to verles?? What is the one out at taylortown??

bluelytes
bluelytes, it is the one next to Verles. Taylortown? Where's that? LOL BTW, I didn't answer you re the tomato planters. Here's an URL and you can always google for more.
http://www.topsyturvys.com/
KATY,
:o HOW could you ASK re: taylortown?? lol. Taylors OWN this county. Taylor is on the left, just past the drive in movie, offa 101 S/B. The nursery is back of the restaurant, back of the gas station. Taylor Shellfish sits up on the little hill. If you make the left offa 101, and the first right, and go till ya cant go no more.

PS, Cant guarantee any sales there, however.
PSS, Same garbage, different landfill, as I always say re: topsy turvey idea vs. my bucket
bluelytes, oh THAT taylortown! LOL You're right about the Topsy-Turvey. It just has some additional features that make the gardeners life a little easier and I'm all for that.
Is MUCH better than mine by a LONG SHOT!! lol. But I did mine just for wimsy.
Regards;
bluelytes
PS Why dont we just IM each other?? lol
Topsy Turvy - http://tinyurl.com/lenry
...I've been looking at those Topsy Turvys as well as the upside down tomato garden (http://tinyurl.com/nwk38) and have been thinking of ways to do that to better fit into my garden's style. Maybe converting/using a basket like one of these for the tomato plant...
cone shaped:

...but your use of the sand pail is just adorable! It's just so cute.
KatyMac and Blu...
There is a temporary nursery on Hwy 3 - right off 101 before you get to Shelton. It is on the left side going up the hill .... good stock sold there.
WANNA,
BTDT!! lol Agreed!! Its the LAST day for a BIG plant sale at the Oakland Bay Jr. High, Behind Walmart today.

I read about the sale behind WalMart - just don't have plans to drive that way ----- beds here are NOT ready for new residents this year ...too much apathy has germinated ...........
On that nursery - I got two awesome Shiro plums two years ago (before apathy struck) - what a glorious buy they were/are.
Vicki
I did that tomato thing last year. The tomato plant did great. A real nice one, but very few tomatoes.
