Perfect Pot Roast

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

I love how my mom made pot roast. Simple and delicious!!! Just meat (seasoned), potatoes and carrots, 1 package of dry onion soup mix and water.

I had pot roast made by my DH's grandmother, one of those ladies who never has a recipe and says cooking the meal was easy..."a little of this a little of that..." Her pot roast, pork this time, was soooo tender it came apart in shreads with your fork. Oh it was like butter!!!! I asked her secret and she said it was just marinated in Italian dressing.

When I make it the meat comes out tough and must be cut with a knife (???). I tried marinating in the dressing and it made no difference.

I have bought cheap cuts of pork and pricey cuts with still no resolution!!!!!

Please tell me you have the answer. Is it the cut of meat, the marinade, WHAT? Thanks if you have the answer!
