markleysburg, PA(Zone 5a)

Hi I am restarting a mint patch ruined by sewer line construction last year. Looking for any-cuttings will do even. Have to trade
gooseneck loosestrife

short evening primrose
3 all green lg leaf hosta names unknown

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I am really playing catch-up this spring, but I will try to get some Chocolate Peppermint to you in a couple of weeks. I figure mint is tough enough to send even in summer heat. Please nudge me next month to remind me! Or if there's any chance you're heading down this way, just stop by and I'll set you up.... there's a good bit that needs to come out at the top of the bed!

Thanks so much. I wont be coming that way just yet though. What can I send you for them??? Blessings Shirley

Hey Shirley,

I just saw this. I'm rooting some more apple mint!
I'll mark some with tyour name; & keep them on the side for you.

I have a few Maple tree seedlings too.

Shirley, don't worry about what to send me until I can manage to get some out to you! I'm thinking it'll probably travel fine in a BE, so it's no big deal.

Thanks Jill and Robin. I would like your apple mint but have maple trees already. Appreciate your kindness. How in the world do they hybridize all these special mints I wonder????

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Same as any hybrids, I suppose... making crosses and growing out seeds. When they get a desirable variety with the mints, I believe they switch to vegetative propagation (from cuttings), and if the variety is stable (propagates true through several generations of cuttings), then it's ready for commercial introduction.

Thanks Critter I am somewhat dense at times.

I've read somewhere about how Jim Westerfield developed his "special" hybrids... sorry I couldn't find you the link!

Andrews, NC(Zone 6a)

Will try and root you some Lemon Mint if you like.

I have spearmint, peppermint, chocolate, and orange mints if you'd like some of them. I'll be digging them up so they'll already have roots on them if you're interested. Oh and I have some banana mint too. :)

Lilburn, GA

I would love some mints. If anyone is interested, I have hostas to trade for mint.
