design help - bubbler water feature for birds

Liberty, MO

We just set up the bubbler shown in pic to attract birds. I need some ideas on how to finish it off. I plan to scatter pebbles. large to small, over the rock support. The edging needs more rocks. But something seems to be missing. My husband suggested that the rock might need to be surrounded by water. I know I have seen a picture of this set up before but can't find it. Anyone have suggestions?

I see what you mean -- it does seem to call for color, texture, and more movement than just the bubbler. Great bubbler for birds, though!!! You may find that just adding river rocks provides color -- although I have a bunch of them that came in bags from Home Depot, they were sort of monochromatic, so I went to one of the large chain craft stores and bought some truly colorful river rocks, almost as cheap as the HD ones.

Can you lower the support into the pump housing so some water pools on it? (I used a mesh barbecue grill from WalMart {2/$1.79} as a spitter-support, and sunk it into the pot so the water hits the rocks lying in a splashy puddle.)

Soon as you get some plants around it it will look more finished, too -- I planted Heuchera 'Lime Rickey' near one of mine. WOW!
