i want several of these if anyone has these to trade. lmk what type plants you would like in trade.
wisteria vines wanted
Mercy, Mama Jack - they grow wild all over the place here. The flowers are gone now...so I wouldn't know what to look for... :(
I probably have some trailing vines (from cultivated plants, not wild stock) that have rooted. Let me look around.
But I am uncertain how long it will take for them to establish before they flower.
Anyone know?
ROX
i don't care rox if they are ready to flower. i want small vines that i can shape as they grow. i just want a bunch of them because i want to make them into wisteria "trees".
I'm not sure on all wisteria's but the one I have took seven years and only blooms when it feels like it. They have one in town that is growing on a 20 foot wall and it blooms every year and I drool every spring when I see it so who's to say.
Kim
it never fails. when i get interested in a new plant there are all sorts of things to learn that i never considered. so how big does a vine need to be before it does bloom? and is it size that makes it bloom?
My plant is 20+ years old and actually blooms once in Spring and then has sporadic blooms throughout summer. From what I hear, they bloom better when stressed and when cut back in the winter.
Some wisteria varieties are known to bloom within the first 3 years. Others take much longer.
Regretfully I do not know the variety of my wisteria so I can not say how long it will take to bloom. But is it lovely.
rox, did you prune your plant that way? it is gorgeous. and is that one vine or two?
I have two different wisterias which were trained to grow this way. However, I can't take any credit. In one in the picture I think is from two vines; the other seems to be only one.
well lmk rox if you have any vines. and what you would like in trade.
I have seeds if you want them, let me know.
Lavina
I also have seeds.
KALEEM
kaleem, you are everywhere. hahaha i think the seeds would take too long for my purposes.
I have a two year old that I am trying to form into a tree. I did notice the other day that a couple had come up in the grass. At least that is what I think it is. I will look closer and also have Bobbie look and if it is your are welcome to both of them. I'll let you know.
Funny they grow wild here. In the spring the tops of trees are just full of blooms. I got mine from Iris in CT. I just didn't want the southern wisteria I wanted some norhtern Wisteria. LOL
I did grow some from seeds once. My grandson did a project in school on them. Complete with pictures as the seeds sprouted and as it grew. Sorry to say it died as soon as I put it in the ground.
thank you i will take some southern wisteria if that is what it turns out to be. barb
this is so funny...i want some wisteria to grow here in florida...everybody has it...i got some about 5 years ago and it has NEVER grown more than 5 ft...and never bloomed...i know it's like a weed and lord knows in Florida ..eveyrone has it..but i can't get mine to really grow...now the HONEYSUCKle...that's a diff story...8((
5 feet in five years!
Mine can grown 5 feet in 5 weeks! Perhaps you should try a new start?
Barb-
I am taking the day off tomorrow and will check out the wisteria. I am almost positive I have some to send.
ROX
thanks rox. i am on another forum discussing elephant ears. there is something about everything to learn. why would a wisteria vine NOT bloom? i am volunteering at my kid's school tomorrow so it will be late when you hear back from me. thanks for looking. my fontanesii are doing great. but i wanted to know the difference from an alocasia and a colocasia. only to find that there are more kinds to confuse me. hahaha
I have several wisteria plants. I'm interested in trading for any hibiscus except Rose of Sharon (I have that already). I may have bulbs for red flowers if you're still interested in red flowers.
I have one that was planted 10 years ago and it has never bloomed and I've tried everything, and I do mean everything that's recommended to try to force it to bloom. It's massive now - the main trunk is probably 5-6 inches across. I understand if they're seed grown rather than cutting grown they may never bloom and I'm afraid that's what I've got.
Mamajack, if you can find an American wisteria rather than Chinese or Japanese, they bloom much sooner, often the first year.
ambrocio, what is the flower for your "red" bulbs. i have lycoris radiata. is it that? i LOVE red.
