building a homemade chicken incubator

Gordonsville, Canada

Hi, I have been trying to hatch chicken unfortunately my efforts failed with the incubator I came up with. Does anyone have an easy plan to make one? Thank you

I don't have plans but I do have a suggestion for everyone who is investing in building one
When we first started out we bought a hovabator
Soon we had too many eggs to go in it ....
We were told to go to a poultry auction's , so we did
The ones we went to were not the once a week ones
These are big auctions once or twice a year
Yes ,we had to travel to get there

The first one we bought was a round metal one, very old
but worked better than the hovabator
Paid 5 bucks for it
Bought another one for 10 bucks

Soon we ran out of room in them too
But having the 3 going worked great 'cause I could put eggs in one of them once a week

Finally saw a cabinet incubator at an auction
It was an old Sears model , wood ,and very beat up
Bought it for 50 bucks, invested about 25 in new thermostat and wafer
and it worked great , actually bough another , real cheap cause none of it worked , but rewired it and had 2 great incubators that we used for years
I now have GQF, 2 incubators, one hatcher , But those are very expensive new
But automatic turners, and automatic thermostats
and a 5 gallon bucket that feeds into the humidity tray saves me sooooo much time and makes it well worth it
I was at an auction a few weeks ago and someone bought one there for 185 bucks
CHEAP
mine were 565.00 plus shipping

What I'm trying to say is check around, auctions , ebay , eggbid , local swap sheets , classifieds , and local poultry auctions
You can probably find a used one that works or will work for very little money and time invested , rather than making one and investing in a lot of parts for something that may not even work
There are places on line or by catalog where you can buy parts to fit or fabricate to make an older used one work

this is just a suggestion , trying to make every ones life easier
Its wonderful if you make one and it works
But is it worth the time and money invested in parts
only to find out 21 days later it didn't work?
