Hi, I'm a gardener from the colder regions who loves ginger (I had a HUGE cardamom plant until I joined the Navy and my mom accidently killed it while I was overseas), and was wondering if anyone here grows any of the (supposedly) hardy Roscoeas, and what kind of light/soil preferences they have. Soil in the wood lot behind my house (a.k.a my garden) ranges from rather dry to swampy, and the base soil is yellowish gray clay with a layer of about 10 in of organic material mixed in over it...
I ordered a Roscoea cuataloides from Lazy S's, but they only had 1 available, and I would like to know any other sources on the east coast for Roscoeas......
Thanks for your help!
Roscoeas
They're very difficult to find in this country. Most people know nothing about these beautifu; alpine gingers. Where I am in Florida I can't grow them except under controled conditions
