I bought a very pretty NoID at HD a few weeks ago, and over the weekend I was going to start trimming off the old flower stalks since a few had finished blooming. I noticed, though, that two of the stalks had tiny baby leaves growing out of them. Should I leave the stalks alone? Are these really baby plants that are starting to grow? I'm going to try and get a picture tonight.

Babies growing on plant stalk?
Stephanie if there is two leaves they are bloom stalkleaves nad can be planted and a plant will grow !
You can leaves them on the plant to get a little larger. Then just take a solo cup/small pot with holes , fill with light soil-less mixture. Cut the stem about one inch 2 at the most inorder to place it into the middle of the cup/soil push it all the way down until leaves touch. Water threw good. I just sit mine under light or window and a plant grows. Some cover.
If it is a little plant growing on the bloom stalk it's called a basket. Looks like a sucker can be put down same way.
These are very nice to get with Chimera plants as they can only be progated by sucker or bloom stalk.
I did a thread on bloom stalk baby basket babies showling how to cut and pot up and Nanna did one on bloom stalk leaves. Not sure where they are have to do a search. And I'm sure the Sticky has info.
The leaves look sort of round, and are a little bit lighter in color than the regular plant leaves. They are still fairly small, so it's hard to tell. I'll try and get a picture tonight, and will zoom in as far as I can with the camera.
In the meantime, I'll take a look through the Stickys and do a general search, too, to see what I can find. I would love to have babies from this plant. The flower is such a pretty pink.
Thanks,
Stephanie
I found one link so far, in the Stickys:
[HYPERLINK@www.picturetrail.com]
It's about "basket propagation", and although my leaves are very small, I think this may be what they are.
Thanks,
Stephanie
I bumped up some threads one Nanna took pictures. I searched threads over and over looking for the step by step photo one I did I can't find it :((
Hey, you night owls. I remember how interesting this was when I first discovered one. Basketing takes more time and more patience than leafing. The ones I left on the plant died and the ones I potted took forever and never rooted. Wish I had more experience to share. Especially experience with a happy ending.
I have done several all grew into baby plants ! I did a thread step by step with a basket and pictures not much after you did your's Nanna and can not find it.
I was Blessed my Chimera gave me bloomsltak babies ! One went to Lorry, one to Laurie and I still have one !
They were tiny size of dime or less but rooted fast and grew fast. Bloomed even when little.
I've posted lots of pictures of them if I could only find the threads.
I sent Eunice a Buckeye Cherry Topping plant grown from a bloom sltak. We both posted pictures of it. Eunice if your computer is working how is your baby doing !
Here is a Sunray trail baby it was a basket baby of dime size grew fast, Wish I could find the pictures or thread where I had them in little one inch pots how small they are . Can anyone find it in a search ? I am having no luck. I wish I could get blessed with more bloom stalk basket babies !
Good for you Allison! You really have the touch. I have a leaf down of Buckeye Cherry Topping. It finally eared this weekend. SunRay Trail is beautiful.
I'll see what I can find searching for basket babies.
Very good Eunice ! Nice Thank you. Still a baby may take awhile to bloom. But see the two big leaves one on each end ?? Well those leaves were from the bloom stalk and I took them they rooted a plant pretty fast ! TATA bloom stalk baby then went to habe Eunice be her Mom !
