Any ideas why my mock orange won't bloom?

Ann Arbor, MI(Zone 5b)

I bought my mock orange a number of years ago and it has never bloomed. I have left it alone, moved it to a different and sunnier location, fertalized it, cut it back to the ground (it is huge now) and even threatened it with the bonfire but it just won't bloom. Can anyone suggest anything? I have 2 others that bloomed the first year and then haven't bloomed since.

I wish I knew. I had the same problem with mine. I did all the things you've done except mine was planted in full sun to begin with. It would bloom but only very sparsely. I was very disappointed. I finally just bid it farewell and moved away from it. :)

Hi cegoins,
A mock Orange or, Philadelphus, is a fast growing shrup with pointed oval leaves and very fragrant white blooms. The flower can be in single or double form and should happen in early to mid June. My personal experience is that the old fashioned single blossom variety is the sweetest. There is another thread in this site where people have posted pictures.

One of my favorites when it blooms!
