I just ordered an Annabelle as a gift for my Mom, whose name just happens to be... Anna! She hasn't been feeling well, so I thought it would cheer her up.

Thank you, everyone, for all the well wishes for my mom.

She's got heart trouble, and has been having a few bad days. Her blood pressure has been waaayyyy too high, which, besides giving her bad headaches, makes her feel generally miserable.

I haven't told her Annabelle is coming yet. She's never had any AV's with a a bell-shaped flower before, and I think this will be a nice surprise for her.

Oh my gosh, I don't know if I ever saw Annabelle before, adding her to my list as well. That is a breathtaking plant!!!!!!!!!!

You can only buy her exclusive threw Selective Gardners Optimara's Southern Belle series. She is on special maybe still for awhile for $ 12.00 ! She comes in a 4 inch pot and never stops blooming and well worth it. Many of us have her Nanna and Lorry and several others. She is well worth it !
I'm surprised you missed the many Threads on her in the past few months !

I received an email from Selective gardeners, today. I told them how much I loved Annabelle and asked if there were any other plants available from the Souther Belle Series. The email said that they were expecting a pink belle to be available this year. Hopefully this summer. Can't wait.

Nanna they have Isabelle I don't know what happen to her ? They were selling her leaves under the Southern Belle series . But they gave no info on her just Issabelle from Southern Belle series now I don't see her leaves anymore. I was going to buy them. So I wonder if this is the pink one ?

Don't know, Allison. Guess we'll see later this summer. Is the picture at the top of this thread your first Annabelle or the one that was sent to you? You had mentioned that the blooms of the first one were not staying true to the bell shape. How is the first one doing?

Nanna here in your Thread up-date on Annabelle has my first Annabelle same as icture above but now she has three more times flowers :)) I guess I thought the bells were oening more but looking at her when I first bought her they are the same.

Thanks, Allison. Glad yours is blooming true. I am still having a little trouble with seasonal mildew but only with Annabelle. All the others seem OK. I rinse her about once a week or 10 days in a weak lysol solution or dish soap and that helps. I have put a small quarts heater in the av room, today. I think I will keep it at 70 and let it run through the night.


Can't believe how cold it is for the end of May. The potatoes, cabbage, and spinach are loving it but the tomatoes, peppers, and squash are turning BLUE (just kidding).

B Annabelles First Annabelle has more flowers large in 5 inch pot as she is older and bigger..
Baby Birthday Annabelle she is smaller but has zillions of the same gorgous Bells ! I would love to have our home full of blooming Annabelles.

WOW your still cold. I know my Momin-law in MI had the heat running while we have 90 degree A/C running non-stop. Thought when I grew up and lived in New England stats many the end of May we had bignow sorms.
Weird how she is getting powdery mildew an no one else ? Do you have neem oil ? Does this help ? I know warm water, keeping on the dry side, air circulation room temperture Maybe you should take her off wick for awhile and just water her when dry ?
All should help.?? Weird she still is having problem and only one ?

I received Annabelle and was able to give Mom her surprise, and she loved it!

It's in full bloom, with many more blooms coming. It's so pretty, and now Mom wants me to put down a couple of leaves for her. She wants to see if we can get babies from them, so she can give them as gifts to some of her friends.
