Here are some cute NOIDs that I got today. The were inexpensive and they were so pretty. If I am correct, the one on the right is a large leaf, the one on the left is a standard, and the one on the bottom is a mini. Does this seem right to you guys?

Here are some new AV NOIDs that I got today
Looks good to me.
Check out the Optimara page. They look like Optimara plants to me. The large pink one on the right might be Michigan. I think I have the simi mini at the bottom. Was never able to identify her, but I love the red blooms
Pretty ! Check out the one white blue edgeing and then solid blue love those crazy ones.
I love those too Allison. It is so neat how the others looked sort of striped and then that one just a pretty solid one. I love when they are all mixed up.

I like Sports to lot's of fun to find flowers unique ! Can't show them but I don't so I enjoy the fun surprises !
That is the definition of a sport isn't it? One that grows different from the mother plant. I'm trying to learn all of these things.
Jesse
Yes but it can't be grown out three generations for stablity and named and registered if a NOID only named African Violets and Gesneriads .
There is a list of registered Sports with their parents in our first sticky or on AVSA web sight. I find it extremly interesting. There is also information how to grow them out three generations .." THE MOM FIRST PLANT DOES NOT COUNT AS ONE" and how to register them is also in Sticky and AVSA web sight.
Oh, I forgot to say that all of these were from Optimara, wrapped in plastic to keep the leaves from getting damaged. They were so cute, especially the mini one. I would love to get some more minis, and I think that you have got me addicted to the mini trailers. I think they are my favorites. There are a few standards that I really want and hopefully will be about to trade plants soon. I just love swapping leaves and plants with all of you. I think that is what makes all of this so fun.
Jesse
OK, I'm new to this - what is a NOID? No ID - meaning no name ? Everytime I see it I say "noid", like "paranoid". :^)
You have it right. It means NO ID. Most people use it when the name of the plant is not known.
Jesse
Sticky says :))
Q. What is a Noid?
A. NOID stands for No Identification (no ID) more on this subject here
Q: How can I identify my noid (= no ID) AV?
A: You can't. It is not possible to make a firm identification from photographs or descriptions. There are over 2000 registered varieties, the colors in photos can be inaccurate, and descriptions of colors (especially "blue" or "red") are pretty subjective. Many "supermarket" AV's are grown from seed rather than propagated vegetatively, so they won't have a name. While it can be fun to try to see which variety your AV "looks like," it's a good idea to use terms such as "lookalike" or "noid" on your plant labels when you didn't purchase a plant with a name tag.
