I'm about to have way too much time on my hands. I'm thinking 2 things.
1. I need to make a "hard core" ARE (antique rose emporium-independence) run. I have an area out front that needs revamping. Had major surgery a year and a half ago...been playing major catch-up in back--now its time to switch gears and "tweek" the front to low maintenance...for life. That's the only place I know to see really good specimen sized plants how they are going to look 10-15 years down the road in this soil. Also want to go to Frazier's statuary on 290-6 Chappell hill exit...gotta go down that road anyway to get to ARE. Need I say more? I'm thinking during the week for this trip--just don't want to compete with the "tourists". We are talking a good hour to Frazier's and then to ARE one way. Then shop, then back (another hour). And that's from here by the farm and ranch club, north hwy 6. So we are talking travel on this trip (as well as fun, huh?). Timeline here maybe between May 29th and June 9th before it gets too hot. This trip I've GOT to make and the company of you delightful souls would be most welcome and you will probably help me from making really corny statue choices...I'm also open to bringing stuff back. Got cell phone can describe condition and prices. lol I'm sure they got food somewhere in Brenham...
2. And definitely a weekend thing! After all, I work all year except June-July; I appreciate the weekend things. I'm completely open here....maybe slow paced and swapping? Maggie....any thoughts? April? Marylyn? Vossner? Others?
Debbie
edited to add: I won't get lost either on the #1 run....I promise....I know it like the back of my hand. lol

Hmmm... Both of those options sound great to me! During the week I'd have the girls with me, which is ok, but I wouldn't be very good company. ("Joy, don't touch that." "Katie? Where'd she go?!? Katie!!" "Ok, Joy, let's go find the potty..." LOL) That's just life and I can do it, but you're gonna want other people around to so you can have a real conversation. :-)
My DH works some weekends, but not all, so if we happen to meet somewhere on one of his off weekends (sometimes he knows ahead of time, and sometimes not) the bunnies can stay with him.
I blew my gardening budget on our last outing, but I'd love to go along just to be there if we can find a time that works for any/everyone. :-)

Hey--kids are cool. esp if they are yours--they gotta be neat little people. Apples don't fall far from the trees do they? Mine's been so "out of plants" for a such long time...but I know she'll come around...when she's 30. I have faith. lol
I don't have a gardening budget left, lol, but I always get ideas and inspiration @ ARE. I went to Fraziers before they moved to their current huge-mongous location, would love to look around again. I work during the week, so I can only go on a weekend. I'll be busy the next two weekends though (Memorial Day and weekend of 6/2).
I am pretty much open. During the week on certain days I watch my grandson but can always get my 19 yr old to watch him for money, LOL. Weekend are also open and again, same thing w/ my grandson but there are more "sitter" options on the weekend! Anyway I want to go and will make arrangements, agree would like to do it sooner than later w/ terrible heat coming...oh god, it's already here. As for eating, well what can I say, I am always up for that, LOL.
COUNT ME IN!!!!!
There's the weekend of June 10th-11th. Are ya'll thinking ARE? Maggie; I kinda know what I want at Fraziers so I can probably keep the search to a single square mile..lol I'm probably going to be pricing the stuff for a return run. When is Memoral day, next weekend? And why don't calenders put holidays on them anymore?
Debbie, yes, Memorial Day is a week from this coming Monday. Saturday 6/10 sounds good to me.
Something is happening on the 10th, but I can't remember what it is. As soon as I remember I'll let you know if I can come or not. LOL
The 11th may be father's day...but I could be wrong.
Father's day is the 18th. I could do either 6/10 or 6/17.
I can do either but would rather do 6/10.......I'm just thinking of getting plants into the ground and all. But then again, they can just join these.
And I'm stuck inside all day "re-creating" lesson plans since Christmas, for 3 preps just so I can check out. I guess that's OK since this time next weekend this will all be history.
I may even get some of these in the ground by then.....
Thanks Vossner for the heads up on the Brent & Becky's half price bulb sale on the bulb forum! Finally got those crinadonnas at a reasonable price....(are you listening April?)
Debbie
Only when you hit me on the head w/ a baseball bat 1st. Thank you!!!!!!!!!
I've taken a closer look at my calender and I won't be able to do this after all. Sorry, sounds like you'll have fun though.
April and Marylyn...weekend or weekday...How about June 3rd?
June 3rd I'm going to be at a homeschool conference at the Reliant Center. How about June 17th?
Oh man that is so far off!!!!
How about the 3rd and the 17th? I'll get mainly plants onm the 3rd and yard art on the 17th? That spreads it across 2 checks for me...ever thinking here.
Debbie
Sorrry, I read this AFTER I read your email. I'm still learning the site. I'd love to go to ARE. Went about a year ago and there is a GREAT family owned, been around since the dinosaurs, burger joint in the next little town (I think Burnett but I could be wrong and am too lazy to dig up the map right now). also serve down home country food.
I'm fairly flexible but will be vacationing in Hill Country from July 11 - 17.
Otherwise, count me in!!
Kristi
