Not that anyone knows me yet and I am really new to the club.
but I received my acceptance letter to return back to school and finish my Hort. degree. I was pursueing it but fell in love (current and only wife) dropped out and got married, two kids later on in the marriage, career and other what-nots caused me to have a long departure from returning. Now, if all things stay the same and there are no surprises life throws my way I will have the finances to return and finish what I started and can get out of this current career.
JUst wanted to share the excitement

Congrats and hooray! Now that you'll soon have a science degree...all spelling errors and syntax has to be forgiven...its a right-brain math-science thing (at least that's my story for spelling so bad and I'm sticking to it--lol).
Are you going to UT SA?
Debbie
Congratulations, Calvin!!! That's wonderful! Maybe we can have an RU in San Antonio to celebrate your graduating in a couple of years. :-)

debbie,
I'll be going to Texas State in San Marcus. I started my degree plan there so it makes sense to me to finiish it there. (mama always said....... finish what yu started.......lol)
It will be a challenge with the comute and class/work schedule but I am ready.......I'm ready.........I'm ready...........I'm ready.......
ooh, sorry got the kids tv show, sponge bob, stuck in my noggon.
and I gonna jump in your boat about the spelling rationalization....All Aboard!
calvin
marylyn,
RU in SanAntonio.....hmmmmm
Graduation...........hmmmmmmmmmm
SOUNDS like a plan; in about three yrs if I say nothing about the RU then jog my memory and we will have that RU.
Calvin

A Michigander here wants to say Way To Go..!!
Love it! Congrats on your return to campus. Yeah, long commute. I had a long drive back when I was at UTSA. Gas was cheaper then...darn shame the big oil companies and OPEC are getting richer at our expense. Can't afford a hybrid, but I am mulling over the thought of one of those kits to use recycled oil from restaurants.
and Willie rises again....lol
Calvin, it will be a hectic few years, but it will be worth it. I walked past the horticulture building and greenhouses at Texas Tech years ago when I went there and wished I could take a course. I was in a big hurry to graduate and never did take that extra course. Later on Tech added the equine science courses, and I know I would have given up my grad plan for a few courses in that department!
Robert Frost wrote a poem about cutting wood in which he expressed the thought that it would be nice if our vocation and avocation matched. "Two Tramps in Mud Time," I think it was. (Old English teacher here.)
"But yield who will to their separation,
My object in living is to unite
My avocation and my vocation
As my two eyes make one in sight.
Only where love and need are one,
And the work is play for mortal stakes,
Is the deed ever really done
For Heaven and the future's sakes."
thank you to all of ya'll,
the commute is a long ways away, but the class load will not be heavy. My job dicttes that I can only take 6 class hours per semester. this is good. I wish I could go full time, then I would grad. in a year and a half, but the income is needed to support the family and Gardening. lol.
thanks again and hope to meet everyone someday
calvin
Very cool, I'm so happy for you! You're gonna do great!
My youngest daughter went back to get a teaching degree after dropping out of college and going to work in a factory. Married and had two kids. Decided she wanted a career that would allow her to be with the kids more so here she is 3 years later working part time, taking care of her family (with Pop and my help with the kids), and maintaining a 4.0 grade average. Graduation is next spring.....Go for it and good luck. We can all have a plant swapping party when you graduate.
Patsy
Way to go! Follow your bliss.
