I have a question about sending boxes to each other. I have only had two boxes, which I may add here that they were wonderufl boxes from Allison and Lorry, and I was wondering if there is some place where you can sign up or is there some place to maybe make a trade list. I am finally able to share some things with people now. Well I will be able to in a couple of months. I sent April a lot of leaves and that was so much fun. Do you have to ask for boxes or do people just send them to whomever they want to? I'm sort of confused. In the past I was not able to send anything to anyone because I did not have anything to send and now that I'm starting to have babies, I will be able to share them in a couple of months. So do I go some place where people have made their "wish" lists or how does this work. For example, if I were to send a box to Allison, I would not went to send her ones that she already had. I would want to send her something that she does not have to add to her collection. Please do not think that I am asking so that I will get boxes. That is not it at all. I just want to know is there a list somewhere in which people list the plants that they want so that if I have them, I can send them some. Is there some sort of system set up so that I will know who would want what. Thanks for being so patient with me. I can hardly wait until a couple more months or so when I can actually start sending out boxes of my own. I really do love to send things to people and my DH has helped me learn how to do all the postage online so that I do not have to go the post office.
Thanks for taking the time to listen to me,
Jesse
I have a question
Jesse~ I am still a newbie at trading here...but I just started a thread something like "want to trade for noid leaves?" Noids were all I had to share at that time. And, as you know, the generosity on this board is astounding! I had a trade right away!!
Good Luck :)
Jacki
That was a good way Jacki !
Also when trading make sure all plants are clean and healthy. Leaves are clean and healthy and cut only from the best places not old and not too young. Make sure they have no bruises or any holes or unhealthy making but nice and green.
Always send your best ! If you would not like to recived it don't sent it.
Package careful so no leaves bruise or dirt gets on plants is important there are links in our stickys on how to package and ship.
OH edit In our sticky is a link or you can find it somewhere up there in DG trading info how to trade and etiquette of trading.

I do the same thing Jesse. When I trim plants and have leaves, I post how many I have and it works out to first come.
I just answered a thread requesting plants. I happened to have some duplicate leaf pots and a couple of extra plantlets. So, I posted and asked for address by dmail. In her post she said she would return postage. It is really easy this way. If you don't have something to trade you don't respond to the thread or you simple say nothing right now.
This was probably something you already knew. We're all faily new at this game. We're not Violet Gallery of Violet Barn. We just have fun and share the things we have. Sometimes they are fantastic and sometimes they're not, but it is always exciting and filled with anticipation.
Nanna, I think I answered the same post. So today I'm going to round up a few leaves for her and send them out. I have sent out leaves before but it was around Easter when the mail was not running. I hope the leaves arrived okay. I would never send out something that I would not like to receive myself. I can hardly wait until I can share my little babies with everyone. I put down a lot of really good leaves so I'm hoping for some really nice babies. I put down about 100 and I can't wait until they start making babies to share with everyone.
Jesse
One of the best things about this forum is the sharing but more than that it is the graciousness with which it is done. Giving the best you have and being grateful for what you receive.
I love it!
I totally agree with that. If I would not want to receive it myself, I do not send it. That is why I want my babies to get bigger before I send them, to make sure they are doing very well.
Jesse
Someday I hope I get some to share.
Makshi, I know how you feel. I have been waiting forever to get some babies to share. Now I finally have some babies but they need to grow a couple of months because they are still so small. But as soon as they are ready, I will be sending them out to everyone that wants some.
Jesse
Jesse, for a general idea of how plant trading works on DG and various ways that people go about it, check out the plant trading forum. There's a link at the top to the DG Trading Primer, which is also worth a read. I knew I'd have planlets to send out in the spring, so I kept running "wish lists" from some people in this forum in my Trade Tracker.... every time they posted and said, oh, that's one I would like! if I had a leaf down, I added it to their wish list.
If somebody posts about a plant you would love, you can reply on that thread or Dmail them to let them know you would love to trade for a leaf or a plantlet if available. Or you can post the varieties you'll have available and see who wants to arrange trades with you. In either case, I think it's useful to finalize trade particulars via Dmail, especially if you've been discussing different plants on different threads.
In terms of knowing what people have in their collections, I tried to get a "tell us your haves" thread going.... the idea is that people could post a list of their collection and edit the list as their collection changed. While "haves" lists aren't a good indication of what people might have available (not every plant that someone has is necessarily able to donate leaves even), they can give you an idea of what you might be able to offer them that they don't already have as well as an idea of what sort of AVs they like. Quite a few people have posted lists on that thread, so I think it's been helpful, but I'm hoping the "chatty" posts stay to a minimum so that the lists remain easy to find. Check it out at http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/581728/#new
Thanks critter. I think I need to sit down with all of my AVs and write down what I do have so that I will know what I might can trade someone when they ask for it. I think that is the first step in knowing how to trade. So I will do that tonight, make a list of what I do have and maybe make a list of what I would love to have. Thanks for the good idea.
Jesse
Oh, and Jesse... LMK if you especially like anything on my list, and I'll put down a leaf! Hopefully I'll have some little plantlets to ship this fall before the weather gets too cold... I'm always happy to trade for sunny perennials, too. I just have to get caught up before I can start arranging any new trades!
Propagating & trading are definitely part of the fun around here, so I'm glad you're getting into it!
