Hollyhock 'The Watchman'
Alcea rosea var. nigra

These have been growing for about 2 yrs here. By summers end they will be several feet taller.

Have you grown other cultivars of the black Alcea like "Jet Black" to know if there is any difference? I see all of these fancy names and wonder.

No, I haven't grown any of the other black varieties. I have thougth about it just so I could compare the color. From what I have seen of them- in person and in pix- they all look the same to my unprofessional eye. IMO, they are all the same flower- lol! What do you think?

If you [or anyone else] wants seeds, I'll have PLENTY come summers end!!

I have "Jet Black" from Burpee (or Parks?) in bud now. Let us swap "come summers end" and we will enlighten ourselves!
