Plant suggestions

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

I need some suggestions. I have two pots on my balcony with wire trellis's in them. This area gets sun up until about 1or2 in the afternoon. My initial thoughts were to put in Alice Du Pont Mandevilla, but with that much sun I'm thinking they would croak before summer is over or barely make it through the beginning. Would these work or would there be something better. I had clematis in them last year but it didn't have the impact I was looking for. I've also thought of taking out the trellis's and planting some sort of arborviate. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think the madevilla would be ok- I am 9a/b and have mine in full afternoon sun in pots on my driveway w/ heat radiating from below as well as above and they do ok. Yours will have late afternoon shade and that should be enough.

You might consider the Black-eyed Susan Vine.

Thanks for the info. I decided to go ahead and try the Mandevilla to see how it does. I also like the black-eyed susan vine. I'll have to try that also. I need to get some pics so ya'll can see what I have.
