The Hoya Pilgrimage of the Dos Amigos

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

They have arrived!!! Yeeeeeeehhhhhhaaaaaaawwwwww ... Sandy and Carol have made it safely to my neck of the woods (and brought me my new children), where we cackled, gossiped, ate yummy Thai food, and searched the big box stores high and low for hoyas for Tami (I have bad news - they had big fat nothing!).
I am so lucky to have met both in person!

OMG!!! Firstly, we almost got kicked out of the HD because someone (whose name I won't mention - but it begins with an "S") started tearing open boxes of EA plants in the desperate hunt for "The" hoya for her sister. I, of course, stood innocently by, taking no part in such naughty activities... There was an elderly lady working there who made a desperate call, that we overheard, stating "there are some ladies here opening all the boxes, what do I do?" (which caused the naughty one and her innocent side-kick to burst out laughing - I doubt that made the situation any better - apparently there was a need for two choke-collars.

So, this morning, after a fabulous white-trash breakfast at IHOP, we headed over to the much more genteel House of Hoyas (aka, Margie Stone), where we behaved somewhat better than we did at the HD.

Here is a photo of Carol, Margie, and Sandy in Margie's beautiful backyard.

Oh, and one more of Carol and Margie deep in discussion...

Well well well, I am getting a different story Ann..... Seems you were digging in boxes too. They told me to tell you that your grounded.... I guess Ann's greenhouse is something else. I am jealous.....

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

Dearest Tami. Who should you believe? Crazy women who are not here to defend themselves, but have a history of naughty behavior? Or, a perfect stranger with a most innocent face and delightful manners?

I am also jealous - Ann Wayman is so close, yet so darned far away! I simply couldn't justify a six-hour round trip to spend a couple of hours with all the lovely ladies, cats, dogs, and plants. I know I will regret not going. :-(

At any rate, believe nothing that they say about my behavior...I'm an innocent little kitten.

Meow,
Ann ;-)

Mt Zion, IL(Zone 5b)

LOL - - you guys were REEEEALLY digging through their unopened boxes?! ROTFLMBO! TOO FUNNY (but I'd probably be doing the same thing). I'm glad ya'll are having such a wonderful time - but try to stay out of jail, will ya?? =0)

Macon, IL(Zone 5b)

Talk about RLTFLMBO - Betsy! You'd "probably" be doing the same thing??? Remember, sis, I've been "hoya hunting" with you - no one is safe when Betsy is hoya hunting! Look out innocent women (like me) and children!!! Ann, IF you were digging in unopened boxes, it is perfectly understandable addictive behavior!!! No shame necessary among other addicts! Glad you guys had such a great time!!

League City, TX(Zone 9a)

Ok, so how many hoya did Margie Stone have? Were they outside or in her greenhouse?

In photo number 1, is that confrontational finger pointing or just finger point gesturing?
Did you buy cuttings from her?

So Ann, you didn't go off to Ann Waymans' with Sandy and Carol?

Susan

Prescott, AZ

I don't know Ann, you may not have fallen off of the deep end of Hoya addiction if you didn't want to travel 6 hours to Ann Wayman's.. You haven't secretly been doing the 12 step program with Awanda have you? O.K. everyone, we need to work on her a little more.

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9b)

So WHAT DID YOU FIND IN THE EA BOXES?????
Don't leave us hanging like that!!!
Sharon

League City, TX(Zone 9a)

Miss Kitty, are you as tall as Carol?

Macon, IL(Zone 5b)

Tami - ROFL!!

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

Susan, Margie had tons in her house, her three greenhouses, and outside. It was a gestering finger pointing - Carol and Margie were getting on like two peas in a pod. I didn't buy any cuttings from Margie (I already have one hoya pimp - I don't need two), but I am rooting some that Carol got & will send them on to her when she gets home. I am actually taller than Carol now - she has shrunk (she's down to about 5'10" and I remain a glorious 6'0".

Tami, I don't need no stinkin' 12-step program! (LOL). Besides, last time I checked Awanda fell way, way off the wagon. If my hoya Jedi Master falls off the wagon, I'm not even getting on! I really wanted to go to Ann Wayman's but I gotta write this stupid diss.

Sharon, we found one measly little Krimson Princess/Rubra - 15 boxes and only one hoya!

I wonder what kind of trouble they are getting into right now.

By the way, does anyone know if there are any places that sell hoyas in Las Vegas?

Ann

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9a)

Hey Ms. K the only reason I fell off of the wagon was because no one wanted to ride with me:-). I sure hope you're not going to be in Vegas in July:-). We'll be there July 7th - 10th, for my DIL's graduation. Vegas ain't big enough for the both of us partner:-).

Blessings,
Awanda - aka Off the wagon HJM

Prescott, AZ

Now Now ladies, I don't want to be watching the evening news and you two to be duking it out in front of the Las Vegas Mirage Casino. Hoya plant in one hand, scissors in the other.. Step #11 !!! There are plenty to go around.

Ann D-mail Deb, she could tell you if she finds any in Vegas. I know I have never found them in Laughlin, Another sign of addiction, everyone is gambling and swimming, and I am scouring stores for hoya plants.

I think I ended up with a getty hoya from Ann, I ordered H. macrophylla, H. polystacha var, and even H. latifolia var., because Ann said that that is what she thought that it was. Hopefully I have it covered. And this shopping by phone is fun, kinda like QVC....

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

So, are y'all sayin' Vegas ain't no two-hoya town??? :-)

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Where is Carol now?

Long Beach, CA

I guess (like Vegas) what happens in Oregon.....stays in Oregon.

Carol ended up real sick-----as of two days ago was finally feeling much better.............then again she is now with her little sweety Isabella !!!!
Our trip was great (maybe not all of it for Carol) Both Ann's will always be a part of my life....Carol will be home this Saturday late!!!
It Would be fun to try and find a place that we could all meet ?????

Priest River, ID

Well our Carol is on a roll---She was on her way back down to Charleys Greenhouse to work on them to give us Hoya nuts a 10% or better break when we order from them....Our should I say the I.H.A. (International Hoya Assn.) which i think most of us belong......
All Carol could talk about was the walls of water and how they would help hold heat and bring humidity levels up---Oh and some swizzler plant supports ....
Oh and I also wanted to let everyone know about Ann Wayman finishing the remake of Dales Hoya book !!! I got to look at the new work--Pics and all the correctons she has had done...I think we will all be very Pleased..........It goes to the printer by the 1 of June..

As I remember things will try and post........Sandy

Prescott, AZ

I'm waiting patiently to order from them.. Is this on all there products or greenhouses? I recieved all my specs from them today for my greenhouse, and am waiting patiently to fax it back to them to see if we get the discount. When you speak of wall of water is that the same wall of water that you put around tomatoe plants? I need to check out the cataloge for the swizzler things...

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Sandy when will Carol be back in Hawaii?

Priest River, ID

Just got off the phone with her...She will get back Saturday late , and will then be showing a friend around the island Sunday......(she is coming in on one of the ships) I am sure she will be on line Saturday night ....HEEEE--HEEE

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Yippeee I have an order with her but I may have to change the mailing address so was worried that the person coming into Canada might be here before she arrives home. I think it will work out just fine. Ü

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Thank you for letting me know! Ü I'm so close to getting those beauties but kinks sometimes happen. ;)

Wow. These ladies visited too. I was a little bit worried that maybe I should not have joined here when I read the first page. People seem angry, but I think that there are good friends too.

I keep getting confused with all these old posts getting "revived". I was reading a few and thought they were recent, but then I looked at the dates and saw they are from YEARS ago. There is a whole slew of them. I was thinking "Carol's in California now??" :)

Threw me for a loop too since I had just read about markroy was just visiting her! LOL
But it looks like we have a new friend in the garden!

I knew there was something fishy about LovinFrogs. Now we all know it's an "old" friend (or should I say enemy), not a "new" one. Wow, I still can't get over this. I hope David, Sara, and Ann all know that they were outed to all of us. How pitiful that they couldn't just enjoy hoyas - instead they liked to make trouble.

I'm just glad this forum will become peaceful again! And that Mark and Carol will stick around :)

Gabi
